TTC baby number 2

Hi, this is my first time posting so please bear with me!

I’m a 26 year old mum of one, my DD is 2 years old and my husband and I recently decided that we’re going to try for baby number 2.

We’ve had unprotected sex on a number of occasions since the new year but nothing has happened and obviously I’m not too worried about this as we weren’t actively TTC. My main worry is that my older sister suffers from secondary infertility and since having my niece, she has been unable to conceive another baby.

My husband and I had unprotected sex several times during my fertile window last month and had no success. I have purchased OPKs and have been doing one every morning, but I am yet to see a second line, and I guess I’m just getting a little anxious as I naively thought baby number 2 would be just as easy as DD. (She was unplanned and I’m presuming she was conceived first time as a complete one off).

I guess I’m just looking for similar experiences really. how long do we try before we seek medical help? is it possible that I might not be ovulating? I know we’re really at the start of TTC so I just want to know what I should expect as I think I have been fairly optimistic about how ‘easy’ it is to get pregnant.

TIA
