Lost coil

I'm really hoping someone has a positive story to help me feel better about this but overall I just want to be prepared.

Went to have coil removed today and the springs are not visible. 2 nurses dug around for a bit and said the cervix was too tight to get through to retrieve the threads.
I had the cold checked in Feb and the strings were fine then which is odd.anyway, they said a gp might be able to use a numbing spray and something else to go on and retrieve it. If not then I'll need to be referred for a scan to retrieve it.

Has anyone else had this and the doc been able to get it when nurses haven't? We were really hoping to ttc and have been told the wait for a scan is over months and that was precovid so lord knows how long it would be now.

Thanks

Forgot to say, I'm not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if not

I'm guessing it's just me then...

My strings got lost and after scans to show it was still there I went to the gynae department of the hospital who couldn't remove it either. I then got it removed under general anaesthetic a few months later

I had this, the strings were wrapped round the coil!

It came to light through a smear test that no strings were visible, so the nurse referred me for a ultrasound to see where it was. That showed it had moved, so I had to make an appointment at the family planning clinic to have the coil out and replaced.

The doctor at the family planning did eventually manage to get it out after a lot of trying, took about 20 minutes in all. I was determined for her to get it as otherwise I would have had to be referred for a hospital video scan appointment to have it out!

Thank you both. That gives me a bit of an idea of what to expect

Mine was lost. Couldn't find it anywhere. Even gave me a chest x Ray to see if it was there - I kid you not Confused Decided I must have expelled it with a large clot. Deeply joyful

Mine went missing and was causing pain. I was sent for a scan. Had the appointment in less than a week. Scan located it and it was removed there and then. Thankfully with little pain. The initial insertion of the thing was much worse than removal for me. Hope your appointment comes through soon
