Trying again after ectopic

I have just had an ectopic. I didn’t have the injection or surgery. I decided to wait and see and thankfully the hcg is decreasing on its own and is currently around 10 so should hopefully be gone very soon.

My question is when should we TTC again. The doctors told me to wait 2-3 months but he just said it was to help with dating a future pregnancy.

I don’t really want to wait if I can avoid it.

• I’m not suffering from grief as I never got excited about the pregnancy.
• I know when I ovulate as I do ovulation tests and track my bbt and I can feel ovulation so I’m not worried about dating.
• If I wait a month I will then be trying on the ectopic side (does that even make a difference? My hcg was only around 200 so very small/would scar tissue be a thing?)

Has anyone had an ectopic and then TTC straight away the next month?

@XjustagirlX I had an ectopic in March & I'm trying again now I waited until my first AF in April then started trying again. I like u didnt have surgery or injection I just spent 10 days at the hospital going every 48 hours until my levels were below 1. I had great care from midwifes to specialist doctors & I was told I could start trying again as soon as I wanted on the day I got told my levels were below 1. Hope that helps 😊

@krk05 thanks. That’s helpful that they told you you could start trying straight away. Why did you decide to wait a month if you don’t mind me asking?

I felt like it was a standard thing they say to wait 2-3 months. But that’s ages when I have been TTC for over a year.

@XjustagirlX I didnt wait a month it was the 7th April I found out at the hospital my levels were 0 & the 9th April I started my AF so been trying since then, I'm due my AF again tomorrow. I know it was my AF the 9th cause I had bled around 2 weeks while my levels consistently dropped (I know cause I was obviously monitored every 48 hours) so knew that was my body miscarrying. I stopped bleeding for about 4/5 days, my levels were 0 & then started a standard AF 5 days long, which is normal for me.

I only got told if I got injection I couldn't try for 3 months as risk to baby & if I needed surgery would be able to try once I felt ready so without needing any of them could try as soon as I wanted. I dont see why u were told 2-3 months that's more like what happens after the injection so that's very confusing. I would probably say to wait until u get your first AF & then try fresh from that time so u know where u are in your cycle 😊

@krk05 sorry I assumed you waited a month as my doctor told me I will ovulate before my next period. However I don’t actually trust anything they say as my treatment with the hospital has been really bad. They accidentally deleted my scan pictures, told me the wrong hcg results and sent me home for two weeks with no monitoring.

I think they just said 2-3 months as that is the standard advice with the injection and my doctor probably didn’t realise I am wait and see.

Had an ectopic last year, I had surgery. I think if you haven't had the injection you can basically get back to trying as soon as you're ready. I'm not quite sure what you mean about that'll be the month that side ovulates from though?

@XjustagirlX I think what I call AF would technically be called a 'breakthrough bleed' but I go by my body, I have had 2 miscarriages in the past & a few days later had that 'breakthrough bleed' (which I just call AF) as after both times 28 days later I have had my AF. 28 days is a normal cycle for me so my body seems to always readjust that way, always the same scenario after I got my implant taken out.

Everybody's body is different though I have read some people have waited weeks before having there AF or 'breakthrough bleed' after & I am in no way an expert. I'm just going by how my body has been in the past with my MC etc. Also just going by the midwifes/doctors telling me I could start TTC again as soon as I felt mentally ready.

Shocking the treatment u got though! Especially at such a hard time as it was for u. & ridiculous u got left for 2 weeks my levels were so low anyway started at just over 200hcg but I still had to keep going every 48 hours even when they got to 11 I still had to go back 48 hours later to see if they were 0 & they were.

@XjustagirlX Its also good u track ovulation so u have more of a picture of your cycle than I do as I haven't tracked this month so no idea when/if I have ovulated. I am due AF tomorrow if I'm having what I hope a normal 28 day cycle so will wait & see if my body has adjusted back to normal & will definitely be tracking next cycle 🙂

It isn't just about dating a new pregnancy

Your tubes will have been damaged by the implantation of an embryo and they need time to heal. I really would leave it longer than one month.

I ultimately lost both tubes to ectopics
