Nothing then negative

Hi!
I realised my period was late a few days ago, plus various symptoms. Bought pregnancy test last night and took it.... nothing. No lines at all. Waited ten minutes, then an hour, then two, nothing. Woke up today and one line. Does this definitely mean negative, or should I buy another?

If there's not even a control line then I'd assume the rest is faulty and take another.
