I have no clue about OPKs. I did one at 12 and one at 3.30, I’m due to ovulate tomorrow going by Flo (this is my first month tracking so mightn’t ovulate exactly tomorrow) .

Any advice? Today’s are both completely negative. Is that normal the day before ov? What times best to test? How long do I hold before testing?

Any help appreciated, thanks xxx

It was my 1st month using opks too so no expert but this is what I did: (Flo predicted ovulation day as 25th)

Started testing every day at 2:30pm from the 20th.
Got a strong line on 23rd so tested every few hours & got peak late evening.
All tests before the 23rd were very faint so no gradual darkening like some ladies get, 24th I tested around 11am and it was high still then by pm it was faint again.

If you can, download fermometer app it's free & you can upload pictures of your tests & it gives you an estimate of LH level 😊

@Mrsirvine no problem 😊

Is the one from today darker? I. Any see the pic very well. It's saying high on the app so you should be approaching peak!

Mrsirvine · 30/04/2020 15:24

Yeah it’s darker but not very dark at all. I’ll test again in a few hours! Woohoo xxx

@Mrsirvine That high looks promising - I'd test again around 6-7pm to make sure you don't miss the peak in case it happens today.

Things to note for next cycle - start testing earlier than the day before expected ovulation. The apps are just guessing so if you were unlucky you could have already missed it by starting today. The instructions should say when to start testing based on the length of your cycle.

Remember that for these dip sticks, you shouldn't be using your FMU. Also, don't drink excessively before testing (as it will dilute the result) and make sure to hold your wee for minimum 2 h before testing.

Test once a day until you start getting high readings - then you can up it to 2-3 times every 4 hours or so to make sure you don't miss the peak. Once you have your peak, test the day after to make sure it's gone down - some people can have longer peaks I think which might put your ovulation day out by a day or two.

@juno231 thank you so much! I actually was testing around 12/1 but they were all faint for a few days. Today I tested at 8am but I had been to the loo at 5am so it was curiosity more than anything 🤣

I will test again. We’ve been bd most days this week anyway (I know some people advise every second day and some say every day) so shouldn’t have missed it as far as that goes lol. I’d just love to get to know my own cycle incase it takes a while to get preg and so I know when if I do.

Thanks girls xxx

I would just keep testing & try & hold your wee for a few hours before you test, might be too diluted

Mrsirvine · 30/04/2020 19:31

It was defo strong enough. But time will tell, xx
