TTC after mirena coil removal

Hi there
I have a few questions regarding the mirena coil and fertility following removal. I am planning on having mine taken out in the next year or so however depending on answers I am wondering if I should have it removed this year and let my periods return to normal for a few months and perhaps go onto the pill or use barrier methods then when we are ready to start TTC after our honeymoon in June next year so it happens quicker?

I have read conflicting evidence online that your fertility returns straight away and conversely that it takes four to six months. Obviously everyone is different so it may variable in each person but I have the following questions:

  1. how long did it take you tc following removal of the mirena?
  2. do you ovulate on the mirena? I have not had a period since I started but each month I do have period cramps around the 16th of the month for a few days, followed by watery discharge towards the end of the month. Does that suggest I am still ovulating?
  3. are chances of twins increased if you start TTC straight after stopping hormonal contraception? Thanks :-)

I had mine removed in June 2019 and fell pregnant in January 2020. would have it removed asap if you are want to ttc. I just felt my body needed a break and time to get back to normal! Everyone is different but if you don't get it removed and then don't fall pregnant for a while, you may wish you'd had it removed sooner :)
