Still not ovulating

So it's now been 4 months and I'm still not ovulating. Had blood tests done and shows as normal no signs of being infertile on a basic level. (no signs of PCO ect) I came off pill in december. Why is it taking so long to go back to normal!!

I didn’t get periods for months after coming off the pill. I fell pregnant without ever having a period post the “withdrawal bleed” from the last pill. I miscarried that pregnancy but fell pregnant again the following month. Lost that baby too but fell pregnant again straight after and had my DS. Throughout that ttc journey I got pregnant 3 times and only had 1 period. What I’m saying is, I had no periods but I was obviously ovulating and it didn’t stop me getting pregnant. Do you know for sure that you’re not ovulating?

I was the same coming off the pill to try for DC2. 6 months, no period. Went for blood tests and bought ovulation sticks. Before I got the blood test results back I got +ve on the ovulation sticks, which stayed +ve for a few days and turned out I was actually pregnant. Guess we just got lucky when I eventually did ovulate. I wouldn't worry just yet, think it's normal to take months for things settle down.

know for sure as doctor said blood tests revealed I'm not ovulating :(

Oh that’s such a shame 😩 don’t give up hope though just give your body some time x

I was on the pill for 18 years solid and it took me 9 months to start ovulating- even though my periods were regular straight away x

I came off the pill in Aug 18, I didn't have a period until between xmas and new year 18, and my bloods didn't show any sign of ovulation until April 2019. Seems to be quite normal to take some time for cycles to return x

I had incredibly long cycles when I came off the pill. (84ish days), then took Agnus castus and managed to get them down to 32-34 days before TTC. Then fell pregnant when trying straight away.

Thank you. I have hope but it's annoying that doctors don't say anything and clame you ovulate right away until you don't. Atlest that's what my doctors did

I was eventually diagnosed with not producing progesterone after even more blood tests. I was to be referred to the fertility clinic but fell pregnant alone in September just before I was going to see them.

The doctors don't like to do tests really until after 6 months if you come off the pill.

@Sitchervice congratulations that’s great news! It’s been 5 months for me, Im having acupuncture to help but I think next month I’ll go to the doctors again and ask for more tests if I still don’t ovulate. I had some done in December and everything was normal (no signs of PCOS) did you take any supplements to help?

@Chloerobinson97 I didn't take supliments but I did try to have an active (Not possible in lockdown I know) and healthy life style. Lots of veg. Yoga and things to reduce stress. Getting your body balanced again kind of things.

I was eating a bit of dark chocolate as apparently that can help. I put the dark chocolate on strawberries to look "Healthy" 🤣

Theres no real one answer as you can just apparently not produce progestogen. The doctor wasn't exactly helpful with answers.

Sorry for jumping in, I’m interested too. First of all congratulations to you @Sitchervice! Do you happen to remember what your progesterone level was? Mine is rather low (10) and I’m planning to just try to have acupuncture, destress, exercise and take supplements while I wait for my appointment, so I’m interested that you fell pregnant while waiting. TIA.

Yeah I remember it was like 0.1 she said it was practically not there at all 🤣

If I'm honest I would LOVE to know what happened to make me pregnant, As it went from we need to get you seen to to I wonder why I keep getting heart burn. I would say I almost didn't take a test because of how irregular I was. So that's something thing to watch out for if your having irregular periods. If your trying make sure you do test.

@Sitchervice Yeah 0.1 is pretty low, not the best but it clearly improved. I assume your heartburn was the pregnancy?

Mine are really regular and we’ve been trying for a while now (over a year), but they started getting very light the last few months and then the progesterone test showed that was low...I do wonder if stress is doing this so I’m trying to counteract that a little while I wait and try, it’s very frustrating but maybe I should have more hope

@thislittlebird I'm putting my heartburn down as my first symptom.

Stress can be a big factor in it. Have you gone to the doctors now you've been trying for over a year?

@Sitchervice yeah, we’re waiting for a referral appointment at the moment. I’ve been so worried about early menopause (which results so far seem to show zero indication of) and it really got to me. I’m generally quite stressy anyway, decided I need to chill while I wait and I started acupuncture recently. Also planning to start exercising again soon and just trying not to get too anxious about it all.

Was actually just reading about how cortisol can interrupt progesterone and I do think that could possibly be my issue, not sure how stressed you were at the time but I guess it can have a significant impact.

@thislittlebird if early menopause has been so far ruled out as hard as it may be try and put that to rest.

Trying to balance your body isn't always easy especially with lockdown in place. Yoga helped me relax (I go for the non ommmm type) I don't know if that's the reason why my Ovary suddenly sneezed out an egg. Or if my stress went away. I was also on Sertraline because the lack of progestogen was causing me depression.

I was placed on furlough and redundancy was being tossed around at my work place when I went for my tests so I have no idea if that was the reason why my levels were off. Or if my body just struggled.

I also had a woman at work who was saying how easy it was for her to get pregnant. How she came off the pill and it was all perfect. Ohh I could have punched her 😂

@Sitchervice yeah, you’re right. It just keeps creeping back in my brain, I’m my own worst enemy.

It’s been super hard with lockdown. I did well at first, then the peak winter phase has just resulted in me sitting on my backside all the time. The acupuncturist recommended yoga too, I’m going to give it or pilates or both a go (did pilates before).

I was wondering about medication that might help me calm down, I won’t lie. Did you have to stop the sertraline when you got pregnant? I know it can be tough stopping them.

Yeah, I love those women the most . Also the ones I know who weren’t even planning kids and yet they have one on the way.🙃

@thislittlebird my doctor didn't seem to think I needed to. It's always best to talk to them about stuff like that. I did in the end because Im now on asprin and the two don't mix 😑

Anything that can help you relax is a plus. But i know it's so much easier said than done.

Interesting but at least they helped @Sitchervice. And yeah, definitely much easier said, really do wish it was easier!
