Any buddies trying SMEP for the first time this cycle?

Hello all!

I am 26, and trying for my first baby. I'm currently on CD4 of Cycle 3. After two cycles of only DTD a few times in fertile window and no result, DH and I are going to give the Sperm Meets Egg Plan a go this cycle.

For those who don't know, the plan goes like this:

-> From CD 8 DTD every other day until a positive OPK.

-> Start testing with OPKs daily from CD 10 (but I will be using earlier as O'd on CD11 last month!)

-> From positive OPK DTD on the day of the + OPK and two days after, then miss a day and DTD again the next day.

We will also be using pre-seed for the first time this month.

Is there anybody else who is doing SMEP this month? Or anybody who has tried it before successfully or unsuccessfully?

After the disappointment of AF arriving early, I'm excited to start a new cycle.

Another day, another negative ovulation test😂 CD19 today so I have probably missed it (I hope at least) so now just have to pray it happened on a day we BD and continue EOD (So tiring lol) I also can't obssess about how many dpo I am and just have to wait for AF who is due on 16th May, my birthday is on the 17th so what a present to myself that would be. Isn't it wild to think we may or may not be pregnant right now!

I have FRER, Tesco and CB at the ready and will try and wait until 18th May if AF doesn't show up before.

@serialplanner were you using the strip OPKs or digital?

Hope you are all OK. I'm on CD10 so DTD tonight. Have been having a fair bit of watery and EWCM since yesterday so hoping I am gearing up to ovulate although my CB advanced is still coming up with a blank circle. X

@cherrychatter I've clearly lost the plot and ground up sesame seeds into a smoothie this morning - I'm currently clutching at straws 😂

@VP91x Clear Blue - the two day one. Someone mentioned the two day one was a bit more tricky than the 4 day one. This is my first month with OPKs so I'm not sure x

@cherrychatter I’m so pleased for you! Get to it!! I think the first few DPO become a welcome rest after all the DTD 🤣 I’d definitely recommend trying a countdown to test day, it seems to be passing much quicker for me this time!

@SmileyT I hope you’re feeling better today, it’s a stressful time for all kinds of reasons and totally normal to take it out on those close to us. Your meditation has inspired me to go back to some of the breathing/relaxation techniques I learned a while ago, just taking 5 minutes of peace is lovely 😊

@serialplanner at least you’re covered regardless if you’ve missed it or not, although must be exhausting feeling like there’s no stopping point! I’ve been using cheap OPK’s alongside Clearblue to check a few times through the day when ovulation is getting clear. Do you know if the 2 day ones just look for LH surge?

@serialplanner some of the Clearblue ones detect estrogen too. I have the monitor, which shows ‘high’ after an estrogen rise is detected. After that it looks for LH surge and goes to peak when it finds it. I don’t know about the sticks but guessed that’s maybe the difference between the ones that identify more peak days?

Wow @Hopefulmummie sorry to hear about your DP, I can only imagine that may make it a little difficult!

@VP91x hopefully that's your body on its way to ovulating! I went straight from low to peak this month, normally get some highs but apparently not this time?

@SmileyT we're on the same page, I called my OH at work earlier and told him he MUST find me a fresh pineapple before he comes home 😂 (which he did)!

Morning ladies! I've missed a few days, apologies.

Looks like I wasn't waiting long enough for these new tests! I read the instructions which say wait 1 min for a positive result but didn't read on which said wait up til ten mins for any other result. hahaha!

Did two yesterday one first thing and one about 8pm and, although neither we're positive both had a nearly test line dark second line almost exactly the same colour. Also got really bad ov pain yesterday mid morning so assuming my peak was yesterday afternoon!

We've been keeping to plan and then some so fingers crossed!

Ah @cherrychatter I wonder why it does that? @SmileyT had the same thing with her CB digi too! I had another blank this morning. Will do another one late this evening and more of the strip ones to see if I get anything diff! X

Can anyone help me tell when ovulation was? Got my peak yesterday-116 .. the apps I'm using are saying diff dates.

@Hopefulmummie based on the image of your BBT, looks like (if you rise in temp one more day) you would have ovulated on the 7th. Do you take your temp at the same time everyday? Also so sorry to hear about your DP leg! That must be a bit of a struggle.. time to be dominant I guess hehe 😉

I only got a peak lh test yesterday and today so would this not mean ovulation hadn't happened yet?

@GiraffeInScarf ohh that sounds like it! Another negative OPK today on CD20 but over it/fine with it just 3 more days BD. And then AF or a test! Eeekkk! X

Thanks everyone! Here goes the TWW. Got AF type pains today so not sure what's going on but trying to remain positive.

@serialplanner it may just happen days late like mine. Just a reminder my peak is normally CD12 but happened on CD16 this month, who knows what goes on in there!

I'm going to sit in the sun with my feet up all day now in the hope a bit of rest might work for me this month.

@GiraffeInScarf I'm feeling much better today thanks, still a tad irritable but it's so warm today and DP will probably put the bbq on so I'm trying to be grateful and now wallow 🙈

@cherrychatter how was the pineapple? I didn't add it this cycle as found out too late but definitely next cycle, I love pineapple so it an easy thing to do (if you can get into a supermarket 😂)

@VP91x don't know if you are doing 2 CB a day anyway but I did cheapies in the afternoon and when I got a strong line on that I did a second CB just to save wasting another CB if I knew there was no Lh surge xx

@gingerglitter4ever the seeds help with hormone regulation so you change them before and after ovulation - not sure how effective it is but eating seeds can't hurt www.healthline.com/nutrition/seed-cycling#what-it-is

@Hopefulmummie cant see any post ovulation jump in BBT so id say ovulation hasn't happened if you had a peak yesterday than you are probably looking at ovulation today 🙌🏾 after ovulation you should be able to see it from your BBT and your apps will recalculate ovulation once they can see BBT rise. Looking at your chart your cover line would be around 36.2c so if you get 3 temps above that the next 3 mornings that will confirm ovulation was today xx

@SmileyT glad you are feeling better today!! it is so hot and lovely. My partner is also getting the BBQ out and I have managed to occupy my little girl with her paddling pool for the last hour whilst I do my crosswords! Taking that as a win for today.

Yeah I have been doing CB with FMU then with afternoon and evening doing my cheapies. I have done a CB also a couple of times in the evening but still the same. It will turn up soon I am sure! Xx

Would you all recommend temping? I've never done it and just stuck to opks so far

So desperate to POAS but I know it would probably be negative! Think I may give in and test earlier on Wednesday...
