Any buddies trying SMEP for the first time this cycle?

Hello all!

I am 26, and trying for my first baby. I'm currently on CD4 of Cycle 3. After two cycles of only DTD a few times in fertile window and no result, DH and I are going to give the Sperm Meets Egg Plan a go this cycle.

For those who don't know, the plan goes like this:

-> From CD 8 DTD every other day until a positive OPK.

-> Start testing with OPKs daily from CD 10 (but I will be using earlier as O'd on CD11 last month!)

-> From positive OPK DTD on the day of the + OPK and two days after, then miss a day and DTD again the next day.

We will also be using pre-seed for the first time this month.

Is there anybody else who is doing SMEP this month? Or anybody who has tried it before successfully or unsuccessfully?

After the disappointment of AF arriving early, I'm excited to start a new cycle.

I've got a question for our charting experts!
I know you're meant to do it at the same time every day so I've had my alarm set for 6.20 as that's the time I did it the first day (& when I'm not working from home this is when I'd get up roughly).
I've got to go out tomorrow morning so will be getting up around 5.30am, is this going to cause problems do you think or still okay to do it waking up?

Slug123 · 19/05/2020 13:58

@cherrychatter I've been wondering the same about temping. I read you're supposed to have 3 uninterrupted hours sleep before as well but another thing that's changed since the weekend is I keep waking up about 3/4 for a wee (which is unusual for me) and then wake up every hour or so after.

So does that affect it? Although mine seem pretty consistent since I started

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 14:06

@Slug123 So I normally wake up around 3/4 for the bathroom as well but have stopped drinking a lot after 10pm so haven't had to get up the past month or. Since starting to temp I've woken up around 4am and then around 5.30/6am every day however I always fall back asleep. Do you fall asleep after waking up? I 'think' (others please correct me if I'm wrong),as long as you don't take a drink/get up and move around, you're okay even though your sleep was technically interrupted.
Mine also seem consistent so far but just a bit concerned about having to do it an hour earlier for the next 3 days.

@VP91x are you going to DTD on Thursday as well? Keep us updated on your temps!

Xx

Slug123 · 19/05/2020 14:10

@cherrychatter I don't drink much after dinner and I never normally get up in the night so it's weird for me. Last night I purposely had one cup of tea and half a can of pop after dinner so I definitely wouldn't need to go in the night and still about 4 I had to get up.

Hopefully thats ok then. I keep waking but I'm so tired I roll over and go straight back to sleep.

I've been doing mine at slightly different times so hopefully that's ok haha Smile

VP91x · 19/05/2020 14:11

@cherrychatter I think so! Although if I know I have definitely ovulated I don't know if it will be useful!?

Xx

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 14:15

That's weird @Slug123, maybe another symptom for you!
I have a glass of water/diluting juice with dinner then a lemon & ginger tea around 9pm and that's me, seems to have made a difference.
Who knows, feel like I'm making this all up as I go along!! 😂
Was sitting reading an article about a fertility diet whilst having lunch. Had to stop reading the article cause I felt guilty that my lunch was left over Chinese from last night 😕
Xx

Slug123 · 19/05/2020 14:17

@cherrychatter it's so hard not to focus on EVERYTHING and then blame yourself isn't it? I just think about all those people that get pregnant when not trying a d they're definitely not watching their diet etc haha.

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 14:18

@VP91x I think @HopeWish @GiraffeInScarf may have missed off the final day from memory but not 100% sure. I was never really sure what the point of it was anyway as just presumed we'd have ovulated before then! Xx

VP91x · 19/05/2020 14:20

@cherrychatter I know yeah, seems a bit odd! But may throw it in there for good luck 🤞😂 xx

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 14:21

Exactly @Slug123, I normally eat pretty well to be honest but we were both exhausted last night and didn't fancy cooking. Not going to stop myself enjoying food through this journey as I'd just be miserable!! Anyway, I had my seeds this morning so that can be the balance 😂 xx

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 14:22

@VP91x I was literally just thinking ' one more for luck' 😂 does no harm either way I reckon. Xx

serialplanner · 19/05/2020 15:17

I'm so behind on this thread! Need to catch up later! X

Donnat89 · 19/05/2020 16:19

Hi ladies I haven't had a chance to Catch up

SMEP didn't really go to plan for us this month as had some family stuff going on

Anyway I'm 14 DPO today and AF is due tomorrow I tested this afternoon and got a faint line . I'm trying not to get to excited as I've had faint lines before on FRER , so will test again in the morning using FMU if no AF XXX

@Donnat89 crossing fingers for you

cherrychatter · 19/05/2020 18:33

Hi @Donnat89! Wow, well I can definitely see a line without even having to open the picture. When are you expecting AF and when did you end up DTD?
Fingers crossed for you!! X

TTCgee · 19/05/2020 18:42

@Donnat89 I can defo see a line!! Will keep everything crossed for you 🥰🥰

Donnat89 · 19/05/2020 18:49

@cherrychatter we managed every other day from CD7 up until day before ovulation then because of family stuff pretty much stopped AF is due tomorrow but my cycles have been out by a few days for a couple months so anytime this week it's due

Will test again tomorrow using FMU

Seafrontsky · 19/05/2020 19:45

@cherrychatter feeling ok thanks today, think it was a moment of madness yesterday. Not actually due on till thursday so dont know why I was upset really its really not like me, I just think I'd allowed myself to feel confident! Been really busy with work deadlines and also nice weather means the beach for us. So I have enough distractions and will probably test Thursday if AF not here.

@Slug123 they sound promising symptoms! But you're right it's so hard not to drive yourself crazy with every little thing. And the changes one month to the next are huge even when you're not pregnant. Think it's just to taunt us! Hope you're doing ok. You're due a day behind me so my fingers are crossed for this being your month.

@Donnat89 that looks hopeful! Fingers crossed for you 🤞

GiraffeInScarf · 19/05/2020 20:13

Evening ladies 😊

@Slug123 even a different brand of cheapies might help you see it, I discovered that by chance this month! It’s not something worth worrying about especially since you’ve had the blood test. I’m pretty sure your test today doesn’t even count tho 😂 All kinds of reasons why there’s no reason to lose any hope from that result!

@cherrychatter your chart will be fine if you’re a little out on time for a few days, other than femometer giving you a dirty look and a comment that you should measure at a fixed time! As long as you’re steady with taking it the moment you wake and have had a good few hours sleep, it’ll make little to no difference in my experience. If it does you can mark it as ‘abnormal’ in the app. And in this TWW I had Domino’s AND Italian takeout (our favourite restaurant opened for takeaway. We couldn’t resist 🙈) oh, and ice cream because it was so hot... so enjoy that Chinese and don’t feel guilty, it’s a stressful enough time and a few treats are good for you if the rest in balanced 😊

@VP91x we skipped the last day. I knew I’d ovulated on CD14 and we’d done 12, 13, 14, 15 already. Maybe the last is just in case you’re late or just for luck, but we needed a break, no chance it would have made a difference to us and we were happier easing the pressure. We’re getting old 🤣

@Donnat89 wow, that’s definitely a positive line, and not even an FMU one! So excited for you!! ✨🥰 please update us tomorrow, fingers crossed it’ll be a lovely strong one 😊

Donnat89 · 19/05/2020 20:18

@GiraffeInScarf I'm hoping it is ! But I will defo keep everyone updated xx

VP91x · 19/05/2020 20:23

@GiraffeInScarf yeah we probably will skip the last one! We have done a four day stint like you too! Definitely need a break 😂 xx

VP91x · 20/05/2020 05:51

Morning ladies,

Finally 1DPO🎉🎉
I had a slight temp rise this morning - 36.0 to 36.26 and I didn't sleep with any covers as I felt really warm. So I will take that as a good sign that OV has happened.

Apps have moved my AF date to Monday 1st June giving me a 33 day cycle and 12day LP. My last cycle was 31 days.

Femometer says earliest I can test is 29/05 next friday. So I will probably cave then! Eep xx

cherrychatter · 20/05/2020 07:06

@Donnat89 sounds like you DTD enough so that's great. Fingers crossed for another line today.

@Seafrontsky we're allowed to be emotional, hope you have a good day today. Any sign of AF or is she staying away for now?

Thanks @GiraffeInScarf did my temp early this morning and all seemed okay! Going to get some ice cream on my way home today, we've got some warm days coming up in London so the perfect excuse!

@VP91x woohoo for the rise! Hoping it continues and the TWW goes fast for you. Bank holiday on Monday 🥳

Just got the tube into central and have to say these face masks are not my favourite but needs must! Xx

HopeWish · 20/05/2020 07:25

@Donnat89 looks like a positive to me!!! Keep us updated xx

Seafrontsky · 20/05/2020 07:31

Hi all did another cheapy test this morning and nothing. AF due tomorrow and no real symptoms either way for now so we will just have to wait and see. Thanks for all your support everyone on my wobbles this week!

@VP91x woohoo well done on the temp rise, now you can relax. Hope it keeps going up.

Crossing fingers all round 🤞🤞🤞 for temp staying high @cherrychatter and another line with FmU @Donnat89
