Ovulating on CD 19 of 27 day cycle..

Hi all I have another thread on here about TTC but wanted to see if anyone had any experience of this

I’ve been tracking my cycles since coming off the pill in October and all very regular between 26-28 days, all fine - the tracking apps show that my ovulation day should be around CD12.

This is the first month I have used OPKs starting from CD9. From CD 10-14 I had ‘high’ readings (according to fermometer app which reads the lines) then it went to low so I assumed I had ovulated and missed the peak. Then CD 16 showed the reading as peak and then the line was even darker CD 17. Today is day 18 and the line is the strongest I have seen it which pushes my OV day to tomorrow which will be CD19.

It’s my first time using OPKs so I will continue into next month to log but has anyone had this before? I did a google search and it says about that a short luteal phase is one reason it’s more difficult to get pregnant so I’m worried now..

Sorry this was longer than I thought. Any help or advice would be appreciated Smile

I am in a similar position to you. I ovulate around CD17-20 of a 28 day cycle so I have a really short luteal phase. I also had a similar ovulation thing to you last cycle. Basically when this happens you will definitely ovulate on the 2nd peak and not the first. How high where the 'high readings'? If they were high highs then it's a good sign that your body is trying to ovulate at the right time for your cycle length.

I have had my bloods done and I have low progesterone which is what causes my short luteal phase (and most short luteal phase defects). Sadly my gp won't do anything for another 3 months as Im only on cycle 9. My cycles have pretty much been like this since I had my implant out.

Hopefully your cycles sort themselves out soon!

@Beau20 hi, thanks for replying!
The scale shows 1-200 and the highs were around the 70 mark according to the app but looked quite strong to me. The latest ones show as 175/180 and the test line much darker than the control. Like I say it’s the first time I’ve used them so still getting the hang of it. I suppose the first hurdle is knowing though if that is what’s happening so I can work it out.
That is so frustrating is it the same time of month you ovulate every month? Hopefully by the time all this CV is over you can go straight to the GP to give the relevant treatments to trigger ovulation earlier. Do you take any vitamins or anything to help with cycles?
X

All I can say is OPKs is to still carry on testing even after peak until they go completely negative just incase you miss another surge.

I've been trying for 9 cycles and I started getting positive OPKs a CD13-14 to start and every cycle it gets later! I took soy isoflavones for the last 2 cycles. Last cycle I started getting positive OPKs at CD10 and they were low peaks (about 125). I then got a high peak again CD17 (177 reading). This cycle I didn't track but I started with EWCM early again at CD10 so I'm hoping I actually ovulated earlier. Soy isoflavones are supposed to be natural clomid to help trigger ovulation and I took them from CD2-6 to help bring ovulation forward. For me, it doesn't matter when I ovulate my cycle is always 28 days long, give or take a day. Maybe something to try?

I've taken every other vitamin under the sun for a short luteal phase and nothing has helped 🙈 definitely worth a try for you though!

@Beau20 thanks so much for all the info - I got my surge of 200 a couple of days ago so my app shows I ovulated yesterday, (which is actually CD 18 not 19, but still fairly late) Reading was 72 yesterday, 50 today so looks like I have ovulated now. I now need to see if that pushes AF a few day’s later or if I see that forward
I will definitely look into the vitamins too, thank you.
Fingers crossed you have ovulated earlier and it works out for you Smile
