Norethisterone

Hi ladies, I need help!!

So I come on my period around the 10th March which I had planned to take norethisterone before hand however, I must have got my dates slightly mixed up and come on a little earlier. I was going away that weekend so I done a little research and I see people online say that they took the tablets after starting bleeding and it stopped or at least slowed it down. So I took the tablets from around 11th - 14th which did stop the flow. I then started bleeding again when I stopped taking the tablets around 16th March which I continued to bleed for around 5-6 days. I’m so confused as to when my next period is due? My cycle is normally around 33 days.. so do I calculate from when my period initially started on the 10th March as I had already started to shed or do I calculate from the 16th March after taking the tablets? Because either way I’m late and I’m just hoping these tablets have messed me up a little rather than the possibility I could be pregnant. Blush lol

I really hope this makes sense lol

Thank you ladies xx

Are you trying to get pregnant or prevent pregnancy?

Aimss2 · 15/04/2020 11:50

I was just delaying my period by a few days as I was going on a weekend away. But as my period hasn’t come I’m worrying that I may be pregnant. But I’m not sure if because I’ve taken the tablets that my period has been pushed back. I started to bleed before I took the delayers so I’m unsure if I am really late or just late by couple of days.. if that makes sense. Not sure how these delayers work in later cycles x

But are you on any kind of contraception at the moment?

Aimss2 · 15/04/2020 11:54

just condoms at the moment as I was awaiting for a coil to be fitted before all this covid happened x

cookielove · 15/04/2020 11:57

Have you taken a test?

peperethecat · 15/04/2020 11:59

If you haven't had unprotected sex then it's unlikely that you're pregnant, although condoms aren't fool proof. If it's more than two weeks since you had sex and your pregnancy test is negative, you aren't pregnant. The norethisterone could well have messed with your cycle a bit.

Not yet, I’ve only realised today that I’m late when I was looking at dates. But I’m just not sure if these tablets have played a part in the lateness. I’ll get a test today x

Aimss2 · 15/04/2020 12:01

Thank you! I’ll get a test today and see what the outcome is. Thank you x

peperethecat · 15/04/2020 12:01

cookielove · 16/04/2020 12:47

Aimss2 · 16/04/2020 13:15

I was on norethisterone for a year, but I only took 1 everyday instead of three (had reasons for this) gp start me new cycle starts once you've come off the tablets and will be your usual 28d etc cycle after that. It starts fresh from the 16th.
I wasnt on birth control while taking norethisterone and never fell pregnant the whole year not even a scare (I wasnt ttc)
