Talk to me about implantation bleeding please

Hi,

I am 6/7DPO and AF due 20th however today I have experience dark reddy brown blood when I wiped. I know it is too early for AF but it is also not the light pink spotting i often hear associated with implantation bleeding.

Would be interested to hear what other peoples implantation bleeding was like, how many DPO you experienced it at and how long after you got a BFP?

I feel this is probably just AF come early sadly but would be really interested to hear other experiences.

I didn’t have it but I’ve generally heard it being described as dark brown blood, not bright red spotting. It’s old blood being dislodged by implantation so would be darker

I've noticed it twice, in 3 pregnancies.
1st time- tiny, pink speck on toilet paper. Nothing on underwear, no cramps, nothing more than a speck 3mm round.

2nd time- tiny yellowy/mustard speck on toilet paper. Again, nothing on underwear, no cramps, just a 3mm round speck of yellowy. I didn't realise it was implant, a thought it was the wrong colour.

No idea about timings for the 1st time.
2nd (and current pregnancy) was IVF, but speck was day 7 after fertilisation (same as ovulation I'd say), then BFP was equivalent of 14dpo.

I'm starting to think it is AF come early, it is lighter than a normal period but doesn't seem light enough to be implantation bleeding and I'm not sure what the reddy brown colour would indicate either.

My implantation bleed was around the day I would expect my period. It was bright red and enough to wear a small pad for. Assumed it was my period. 2nd day, nothing really expect maybe a bit whenever I wiped and then third day nothing expect a hush of red fresh blood after I had sex. I assumed all of this was just a weird, short period, but took a test about a week later and turned out i was pregnant. So implantation bleeds can vary, and aren't always just a tiny spec of old blood! Saying that it sounds like it's a bit early for implantation for you but not sure.... pregnancy is weird!! Mine was dark brown stringy discharge like that started about 2-3 days before my period was due (12dpo), and lasted about 4 days gradually getting lighter each day and only when wiping. I thought my period was arriving but when the spotting stopped and I hadn't had a normal bleed I tested and it was positive (this would have been 17dpo). Different websites say different things about timing and colour but most always said wait a few days before testing because if it is implantation you need to allow the hcg to build up for a test to read positive.
