Conception in the time of COVID (am I pregnant?!)

Hello everyone,
I’m very grateful in advance for your advice. I took my first ever pregnancy test this morning at 6:30am when I first woke up. I was so nervous that instead of waiting and watching for a line, I hid it in my underwear drawer and fell back asleep. When I woke up I’d totally forgotten about the test, went about the morning, then 5 hours later realised omg, checked, and pictured is the result. Is this an evaporation line? Unfortunately I don’t have another test and am now contemplating whether I should leave the house to get one. Really really appreciative for opinions on whether this is a false positive because I looked so many hours after taking it (facepalm!)

That's not an evaporation line! Congratulations!! Xx

I would say that's a pretty clear positive, OP! Of course you'll need another test though to double check, but perhaps get some delivered via so you don't need to go out. GL! x

Goodness! So it can’t turn positive after several hours? My DH and I had always said we’d start trying in the second half of this year. So this isn’t wildly unplanned, just a few months earlier than anticipated.

@beenaa and @kell2126, thank you so much for your replies above. The day after posting this (9 April) I got my period (or what I assumed was my period). I'm usually on a regular 28 day cycle but after now 32 days later I have no period but also am not pregnant. I'm trying to understand what this means - is it possible the pregnancy test was wrong (since I looked so many hours afterwards)? Or was I pregnant and miscarried and that's why I don't have my period turning up this month? I'm unsure whether this is something I should go to the doctor about or whether this is just what happens when TTC. Thank you, so grateful for advice

Could the bleed you had be implantation bleed have you done another test xxx

Calmondeck · 10/05/2020 13:50

I wish it was @Hoping1 but I've done two tests since - both negative. There's no way of knowing you had a miscarriage is there?

I dont know as never had a positive I know alot of ladies say pink dye test are better then blue as blue do evap lines xxxx

DressingGownofDoom · 10/05/2020 14:07

I've had evaps like that on those same tests. They're awful, so convincing!

@Calmondeck so sorry, this is the most frustrating part isn't it?

It could have been a CP, or an early MC. Although, you were already late, right? I've read lots of ladies testing before AF is due, seeing a BFP, then getting AF 1 or 2 days later. Lots of people give great advice on this and CPs are very common.

Some advise using SMU over FMU. I wasn't sure of the difference or why so started a thread on it. Something to do with HCG being weaker in urine that's older ¯\(ツ)

Honestly, I still can't tell the difference between an evap or a BFP. I use FRER and read within the timeframe, if it's BFP then I confirm with a CB digital.

Did you use an OPK this cycle after your last bleed?

peperethecat · 10/05/2020 15:43

That's very definitely a positive test. I would guess that you had a chemical pregnancy and so your next cycle has been a little out of whack and you ovulated late. Flowers
