Hello!

Total newbie here. I'm 30, my husband is 31 and we are just starting on our TTC journey. I've been off the pill since September and having reasonably regular cycles (apart from last month - cheers for the stress, Rona).

My app has been telling me to take ovulation tests for the past few days. I definitely know what a negative looks like, but have never had a positive! So I sort of want to say hi, and check with you experienced folk. I've taken 3 today - each darker than the next. The one I took an hour ago has a line much darker than the control, so I'm assuming this is a positive! Also, when is best to DTD if this is the green light? We BD yesterday morning.

I am TERRIFIED and excited in equal measure right now! We've put this off for so many years due to my extreme fear of childbirth. Feels like butterflies with elephant feet on my chest!

Hi Peaches!

I spotted your post as I'm also new today with my first TTC post. I however took my last contraceptive pill just today so am a little behind you in that sense. I've been trying to get/keep fit, eat well and take supplements for 3 months or more now. Planning on not strictly trying for a while and just seeing what happens until I can monitor my cycles.

Any advice for someone coming off the pill?

Also, I relate to the fear of childbirth, though mine wasn't especially extreme. There is a book out there - How to give birth like a feminist which is interesting. I had mixed feelings about it but it did help reassure me on the childbirth front :)

Hi Alt!

I've changed my username just in case people who know us are hanging around these parts (we aren't making it hugely known we are TTC). How exciting for you! Sending lots of baby dust your way!

Thank you for the book recommendation; I'll check it out! I'm keen on employing a doula when I get the BFP too.

Advice for coming off the pill from me is - don't put too much pressure on yourself! Your cycle may or may not be weird for a while. Mine actually came back far more regularly than it was pre-pill, but I know that's not the case for everyone. My biggest surprise was the return of being teenage-style up for it Wink I couldn't get enough!

I'm going to be honest - I haven't read any books yet! It sounds like you're super clued up - if I'm getting a positive ovulation test today, when is the best time to do the deed?!

Hi @PeachesLuna2905 welcome to the world of TTC. Your fertile week starts in the days leading up to ovulation and then up to 36 hours after. I used the CB digital opks in the past as they detect the rise in LH as well as the peak surge. I would say once you start to the lines getting darker to start DTD and then once you've had your positive I would do it that day and the following day. Good luck!
