Blighted ovum

Hi all. I would like to share my experience and speak to someone who maybe understands what I am going through. I had a positive pregnancy test in February and was over the moon, but I went for a scan on 15/3 and it was a blighted ovum. Words can’t describe the pain you feel hearing that there is no embryo. I opted for medical management of miscarriage on 17/3 which was incredibly painful. I went for a scan last Monday (30/3) and there was still some tissue left so I had a MVA. I took a DCB test today, which is one 1 week after the MVA, and it said 1-2 weeks pregnant. Anyone has had a similar experience before? How long did it take for the HCG levels to go down to 0?

Thank you for sharing your experience.
Kasandra x

Hi, I’ve had several of these pregnancies unfortunately.
Pregnancy tests show positive for me for up to 3 weeks after everything has passed and the bleeding has stopped.
For this reason, I never bothered to waste my money to check.
All the best, it really is an awful situation to be in .

So sorry for your loss. I had a similar experience, it was very sad and shocking to see an empty yolk sac. I didn't retest again so have no idea how long it takes to go down to 0 again.

But I had the miscarriage in March, got a period in April and May and then got pregnant in June again. Best of luck to you x

Thank you ladies, and really sorry for your losses. Tbh with everything going on I don’t know if it’s wise to try ttc anytime soon but seeing a negative with help me feel better I guess, and put this chapter behind me. X

I didn't get a negative test until I got my first period which was 8 weeks after my surgery. I do think I had some retained tissue though. Sorry for your loss Flowers

After one miscarriage (spontaneous not medical management) I bled/spotted for 11 weeks and had positive tests for 5-6weeks. Disaster mentally but once I stopped bleeding we tried again and he is 4yo now. Best of luck to you. X

Thank you for your replies ladies. So good to read that some of you had successful pregnancies after. I hope one day I can share a positive story as well. I had a negative today. I feel really relieved! 4 weeks can feel like an eternity but now it's finished, and I can stop obsessing over what happened. X
