TTC but periods haven’t returned

Hello,

Hoping to get a bit of advice. My DD has just turned 5 months. We are mixed feeding - 50/50 breastfeeding and formula, but my periods have yet to return. We would like to start trying for another baby.

I understood that if you’re not exclusively breastfeeding they resume quite quickly after childbirth, so a bit concerned that something might not be quite right... should I be worried?

Hi OP, I asked this question a few months ago, for the same reason as you, the answers were really mixed- some people said theirs came back within a month or so despite exclusively breastfeeding, some people had to stop feeding completely before theirs came back. Most people seemed to be around 7-9 months after the baby was well onto solids. Mine came back at 9 months, I’d dropped a couple of day feeds but was still feeding a lot at night and a bit in the day. I read somewhere that suddenly cutting out a feed and having a much bigger gap between feeds was more likely to make them come back than gradually spacing feeds apart. I wouldn’t be worried at 5 months while you’re still feeding a fair bit, but I do understand the frustration. Hope they come back soon for you

I totally feel your frustration OP, we were in the same boat TTC but no luck without a period.
Mine didn't return until DS was 15 months & down to one BF a day & I fell pregnant pretty much immediately, two months along now!

I know it's so much easier said than done but don't get hung up on it, it'll happen!
