Ovulation advice

Hey all,

I came off the pill in January. Had a 36 day cycle followed by a 27 day cycle.
This month we are TTC and I'm on cycle day 17. I've been using ovulation tests since CD10 with no luck. Day 6 of flashing smileys on clear blue advanced and only faint lines on opks.
Slowly getting disheartened and think I may not ovulate? No clue when my next period begins so can't give myself piece of mind. Any advice would be appreciated

Keep testing. My cycles have ranged from 26 to 38 days since coming off the pill and generally seemed to have settled around 33/34 days. Generally (not in everyone's case) we ovulate approx 14 days before our period arrives. Meaning if you had a 36 day cycle, ovulation would be around 22 if following this 'rule'. It's likely you may be having another cycle that is a bit longer and you haven't actually ovulated yet x

Are you only testing once a day, when you get your first flashing smiley I'd be testing at least 3 times a day, as you may have missed your peak with only testing once a day

When I first get a flasher I test first thing, 4.30 ish when I get home from work (normally) and not long before bed.

Keep trying and good luck!

Are you doing any other indicators as well -temping, cervical mucus and position?

Sar15 · 29/03/2020 19:57

@claireb707
Testing twice a day since day 11 and then 3 times these past few days.
Ewcm since yesterday and (tmi) my cervix is up high and slightly open. My fear is that I won't ovulate full stop... So much stress with these ovulation tests but I know it will be worth it.

Thanks @BewilderedBee good to know someone else was in my position. I'll keep testing. Fingers crossed I get a positive soon as it's really worrying me

How long were you on the pill for? I was on it for 18years solid and it took me 9 months to finally ovulate xx

Sar15 · 29/03/2020 21:10

@Foreverblowingbubbles18
I was on the pill for 4 years after having my daughter. That 9 months must have been difficult, hoping it won't take me that long. Were you doing ovulation tests to track ovulation over those 9 months or did you get scans done?

Yes hopefully! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. We are 18 months TTC now and I'm really fed up of it! Tests confirmed everything is working fine and I'm ovulating so Hoping for what feels like a miracle to be honest! My sister has always had cycles similar to mine (never consistently the same each month) and she managed to get pregnant twice no problem so try not to worry too much about it xx

Quick question. First post on here actually. I have had 2 postive ovaview dip tests morning and evening today. Tonight done my first advanced digital ovulation clear blue and got an empty circle?? How can you test positive on one and nothing on the advanced digital?? Super confused. All help much appreciated.

Sar15 · 29/03/2020 21:59

@BewilderedBee
Sending you lots of baby dust! TTC is such a complicated and stressful thing! Here I was thinking it would be a breeze.

@Nic2908 clear blue tests always show negative on the first test. Test again tomorrow and it should come up positive

@sar15 just ovulation sticks, - CB digital ones, I need it there in simple terms not light and dark lines lol. Doctors wouldn't do any tests until we'd been trying for a year.
Also, someone said to me which always stuck in my mind, if you'd not switched on a car for that long you wouldn't expect it to work straight away so the same goes for your body.

Sar15 · 30/03/2020 18:59

Finally getting darker lines on OPKs so fingers crossed I get a positive and a static smiley soon! 😆

That's exciting. Thank you to whoever said that that on CB the first one is always negative. You were right I have had 2 days of flashing smiles since.......

Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me joining.
I am 6 months TTC and suddenly in the past 3 months my period became very irregular. My period has been normal always before that (26yo).
My last two cycles were 45 days and also the ovulation tests are showing positive for the better part of the month, which makes me think I might have a hormone issues.
My blood and fertility tests were good back in August when we started trying to conceive.
Anyone else related to similar situation?

Best of luck girls 🐥
