Hello all
I've read a previous thread however its dated some time ago. I was just wondering about ladies experience of coming off contraception, how long did it take for ovulation to regulate and how long it took to conceive. Interested as I haven't found much information thank you 😊

I was on cerazette for a long time. It took 2 months so have my first period, 6 months for periods to become regular, and 12 months + since I stopped the pill and we're still trying!

I think everyone is so different you'll get a massive range of answers. Good luck!

I want to do this (cerelle) was planning to come off at Easter as Jan 2021 was the very earliest I wanted to have a baby (and any time after that, assuming it would take longer) but now I just don’t know what to do with Covid-19 and everything going on! I posted a thread on here and the resounding consensus was to not ttc during the pandemic. Following your thread for anecdotal experiences from others.

I came off the end of Feb and had my first proper period the middle of March, so very quick for me.
I came off the mini pill end of Feb due to mental health reasons (I currently have never felt better!!), and the doctor told me that the pains I was feeling were severe ovulation pains. I’ve been experiencing pms the past week so I’m sure I’ll come on again soon x

Ronia · 29/03/2020 16:14

I got a period a month after coming off it and was pregnant 4 month later. Same again when I was TTC the second time. I was also late 30s at the time.

TiReDmUmone · 29/03/2020 16:34

@Chicken123 I'm glad your feeling better, and that is quick

TiReDmUmone · 29/03/2020 16:35

@Ronia that's good that it didn't take you to long and reassuring

I was on it for 13 years took 6 months to come on. Then went back being really heavy. Been trying now for 3 years to get pregnant. Was on ivf roads just about to start and was cancelled due to covid 19.xx

WaveStreet · 29/03/2020 17:35

I (late 20s) was on various pills for a long time with no breaks, most recently mini pill for the last few years. Came off the pill Dec 2018 and started TTC immediately. First period end of Jan so quite quick but took until Feb this year to find out I'm pregnant.

I was always a fairly regular 28 day cycle before going on the pill and throughout last year I had cycles that varied between 27-36 days. I did use OPKs on and off and think it varied between possibly not ovulating/ovulating late in my cycle. I found it disheartening to keep buying them and using them with no success so some months I would try not to track and take the pressure off TTC.

Around a year after coming off the pill I suddenly started to ovulate on day 13/14 and had 28 day cycles so I really believe it took my body a year to settle. I wish I had come off the pill earlier and used alternative contraception if we weren't ready then to TTC just to give that time to adjust. I definitely had moments where I didn't think it was going to happen for us.

Best of luck to you all ❤️

TiReDmUmone · 29/03/2020 18:08

@WaveStreet congratulations ❤️ I never thought that coming off the pill would take long as with my DD I fell pregnant the first day after stopping it but that was a combined pill I think the mini pill is different

Skyla01 · 29/03/2020 18:25

@LittleRa it might still be worth stopping the pill and using barrier contraception for a while, in order to give your body plenty of time to get the pill out of the system. Entirely up to you of course.

WaveStreet · 29/03/2020 18:57

@TiReDmUmone wow that was super lucky first time round!
Given the mini pill stops ovulation I suppose it's not surprising some of our bodies can take a while to settle back into our natural cycles.

LittleRa · 29/03/2020 18:58

@Skyla01 Yes I was thinking that

KTCluck · 29/03/2020 19:01

I had a period straight after stopping Cerelle and was pregnant within 6 weeks. However my periods have never stopped on any of the mini pills and I tend to bleed if I skip one. I know others who took much longer. I was also thinking about TTC soon, but am leaning towards waiting too.

noloh1 · 29/03/2020 19:03

I came off cerelle and was pregnant before I had my first period. Everyone is different.

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 29/03/2020 19:23

After stopping it, my first period was a month later, and conceived within 2 months, which was a surprise as I expected it to take a while!

Good luck x

TiReDmUmone · 29/03/2020 20:15

@WaveStreet yes it was I was alot younger then I was 19 at the time I had DD hopefully won't take to long I was also alot slimmer 🤔I'm trying to lose weight
