Spotting 9dpo until AF, something wrong?

Hi! I am on cycle 3 of ttc #1 and I am 38. On my first cycle I had a chemical pregnancy and hoped I'd fall again straightaway. But on my second cycle I started spotting at 10dpo and carried on until AF came on 15dpo. It was very heavy, whereas after my chemical I had very light bleeding (it was just a couple of days after AF was due). I thought it was just my body readjusting.

Last night I had light cramps at 8dpo and I thought maybe it was implantation! But now I'm 9dpo and spotting again, and if it's like last month I expect it to just go on until AF arrives.

I am worried something is going wrong. Why is my body gearing up for AF and spotting when it should be the best time for implantation? Or is this implantation/failed implantation/my body trying to figure out what's next, and if I get a bfp then I just won't have AF at the end of it?

I read about low progesterone but my boobs are very sore from 1dpo until AF ever since ttc so I don't think that's it? Maybe I am just out of whack at the moment. It is just gut wrenching to feel I am out so early in the tww. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have advice or thoughts?x

Hi. Same thing happens with me. Ive been told its normal and had a day 21 test that shows i am ovulating but i still worry. When i first came off the pill last June i didnt spot till 12 DPO. Its so annoying as i dont even get chance to test. Ive heard people who still spotted the month they got their positive and those who didnt. Hopefully someone will come along with some answers for us both x

Thank you, @Trying2019. Got in a bit of a tizz about it last night as it feels as though all our efforts are pointless if my body is doing the wrong thing and not giving the egg a chance to get going, but I am relieved you were told it was fine. I read some forums that said vit B was good for the early spotting but I'm already on pregnacare and not sure if it's ok to double up. X

Same thing happens with me too. I'm 40 and it's only happened for the past few years.
Saves me a fortune on Hope pregnancy tests as I know I'm not pg as I spot for around 10 days. I've had a few progesterone levels - some have said normal, some low.
Been TTC for almost a year now and given up.

OP apart from your age (I’m 32) you’ve exactly described my situation! Chemical on cycle 1, failed cycle 2 and now about to fail cycle 3. I have started randomly spotting during cycles and it NEVER happened when I was not TTC. I always had nothing until AF it’s so confusing and messing with my head.

oliveroses · 27/03/2020 19:16

@Icouldstillbejoseph very sorry to hear you've had the same frustration. Did your doc have any ideas or prescribe progesterone? I have heard it can be hard to come by!

@karenkeys yes, snap! I was tracking my cycles before ttc and they were perfect. Grrr. Today has been weird though as much heavier. I hope AF just comes early. If not I will try and get a phone appointment with the dr I think. Will you let me know if you find a solution or it solves itself?! Am trying to focus on getting exercise going again for now in the hope that some more health will do me good!

Same for me since I came off the pill is June 2018. Starts around 10 dpo for me. I often spot on ovulation too. If I'm really unlucky it carries right through! Mine is often heavy after 10 dpo too.

I've had a pelvic scan. Day 2 blood test. Both normal. I thought it was my progesterone but I tried progesterone cream last month and it made zero difference. I do have a cervical erosion which the dr told me wasn't related but actually now I wonder (having googled/ read other people's info). I've tried different vitamins etc. So I've no idea! Only been TTC 4 months but this has been going on ages.

oliveroses · 28/03/2020 10:24

Hi @paintfairy, thanks for posting! It's such a pain isn't it. Do you have cramping too and is that related to cervical erosion? Cervical erosion doesn't affect ttc does it, so that's good news?x

@oliveroses no I don't get cramping. Usually my sex drive increases though. I only got cramping once, back in jan, so I wondered if TTC something happened that month to trigger that. As that was unusual for me.

Cervical erosion shouldn't interfere, no. But the amount of bleeding seems a lot for that? I never get bleeding after sex with it either. Only the LP bleeding.

oliveroses · 28/03/2020 10:37

@paintfairy yes, it does seem too much bleeding I agree, and weird that it would only appear at a particular time in the cycle. I am cramping quite badly today but AF is not here properly. If it arrives on tues or wednes as it should that will be a ridiculous amount of bleeding in a month!
I am worried that the combination of ttc and lockdown is going to send me absolutely crazy. Think I need to find something to take my mind off things!x

@oliveroses I'm CD5 today. I'm not TTC this month. Lockdown is sending me crazy though!

Some months its not as bad. But others I feel I've lost as much blood before my period as when I'm on it! Usually mine is only about 3 days long. Yet I bleed for week before it sometimes.
