Ignoring covid19 (I know that sounds like a ridiculous thing to say) but how long would you wait, have you waited or do you WISH you'd waited before ttc number 2?

Just a curious thread! As an already 30 year old who wants to have 2 or 3 in total Blush

I'm curious about this too. I was thinking of starting trying when my first was about 18 months. You never know how long it will take I suppose.

Depends when you feel ready- I felt ready from 15m but knew it would probably take us a while. Now on cycle 6....

whambam89 · 27/03/2020 21:10

I wish we had started sooner (DD is 2y 3m), we fell pregnant 4th cycle trying but it ended up ectopic and now have to wait 3 months until we can try again

I know it's crazy but I've felt broody almost since taking DS1 home! I just love being a mum and we've always wanted 3. He's 4 months now Doctor suggested minimum of 12 months before getting pregnant as I had a c section. It took me 5 months to get pregnant the first time so I think I'm going to start trying when DS is 9 or 10 months old.

We planned a 2 year ish age gap between our first and second child but I accidentally got pregnant breastfeeding a 9month old. So our children are pretty much 18 months to the day apart. It was hard for the first year or so but it’s started to get easier now as the youngest is 2 and I really love the age gap. We want a 3rd so we knew we couldn’t have massive age gaps as I was 32 when I had my first child.

There’s no guarantee that you will get pregnant easily a second time just because you did the first time so I’d probably decide on the smallest gap you could cope with (assuming all things are ok job wise etc) and go for it.

Mum637k · 06/04/2020 03:29

DS is 4 months old and I could start ttc today, I would be okay with small gap as crazy as it sounds!

@LostInTheWoods1 I am also breastfeeding but AF has not returned yet. When you got pregnant with baby 2 were you getting periods?

RoseGoldEagle · 06/04/2020 17:32

I wanted a 2 year gap and because we got pregnant very quickly with our first I left it until DD was 2 to start trying, took us nearer a year. Thought we’d try earlier for number three but it happened quickly again that time so will have 17 month gap between 2 and 3! I think there’s pros and cons to long and short gaps, I just know once I’m past the baby/toddler stage I won’t want to back into it again, so wouldn’t have wanted a huge gap!

LostInTheWoods1 · 06/04/2020 18:24

@mum637k my periods came back at 6 months ish, I’d had 2 cycles that were back to my normal 28 cycle, third cycle was 2 weeks longer exactly. I know this as I had sex the day my period was due thinking it was “safe” and at my dating scan my due date was moved back by exactly 2 weeks. So yes you can get pregnant breastfeeding if your periods are back, but your cycles might not be as regular as they would normally be. I highly doubt you can get pregnant before your periods return, unless you got pregnant the first month they came back.

We are currently TTC our 2nd baby, my daughter is 20months. Fingers crossed this month is our month! 😊🤞🏽

OuterMongolia · 06/04/2020 20:25

We wanted a 2 year gap so we started trying when DC was a year old. It happened quickly so the gap is 22 months.

Lelophants · 06/04/2020 20:27

Ds is about 5 months now. My periods haven't come back yet. I'm not even sure if I would get pregnant now if I wanted to.

Scottish26 · 08/04/2020 10:06

My little boy is 20months and we are trying to conceive! Hopefully this month will be our month x

Lelophants · 08/04/2020 11:26

Is there a point where you feel less exhausted and able to?

Sammyclaire22 · 17/04/2020 13:01

@Lelophants my dd was about 15m before I reached that point! I was only getting 4 broken hours sleep a day for most of the first year and it took me a few months once she slept through to feel somewhat normal. Almost 20m now and I still have tired days!
