if you can tell the difference between a late period and an early miscarriage? If so, how, and if it's m/c should you go to the doctor even if they hadn't known you were pregnant?

I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, but my friend seems to have come on over two weeks late and is having really awful cramping, so we're a bit unsure and wonder if she should see her gp? She has been under quite a bit of stress lately so it's entirely possible af just late, but we're wondering if you can tell.

I'm very sorry if this should be somewhere else, by the way. Please tell me if it should.

If she has been temping, her temp will be low again after 18 successive high days....always tell your doctor...it may help later if you have several other mc or struggle to conceive...

Sorry if that sounded blunt. When I mc, I had horrific cramps, and had only known i was pregnant for a week.

If it's recent she may still test postive on a pregnancy test as the hormones can stay in your system even after mc.

A pregancy test will probably be positive if she is having a mc, and yes go to the doctor if she suspects it might be.

Thank you so much for your responses, and sorry I haven't replied sooner but didn't have access to a computer yesterday. She's not TTC so not temping, and did a HPT the night before the bleeding started which was negative, so it sounds like it's just a very late period. But I was worried for her because she suffered a mc in her teens and thought that if she was having another she should get to to the docs pronto.
I may pack her off to docs anyway, just to make sure, as she is desperate to have kids one day and I don't want anything spoiling her chances.
