Hi I am hoping someone can tell me the process of what happens when you get referred to a clinic?
I am 40 and trying for my first, all the initial tests came back ok, (3 and 21 day tests) his count is ok too.
But due to my age the GP is referring me.
Can anyone tell me what is likely to happen next?
Thank you for any insight.

Hi,

We are in the process now of seeing if we need assisted conception.
We’ve just had our first fertility clinic appointment.

She spoke about history, how my periods are, health etc.
She then ordered two more months of day 21 bloods plus chlamydia and rubella (all part of the process)
Husband did his sample yesterday and I have a scan on Monday to check my ovaries etc.

We are booked back in for the 4th of June.
The first appointment is very much paperwork and booking more tests from what I can see.

Hope it goes well for you x

@Thewait2020
Thank you that's really helpful. 4 June? That seems like an age away!
Did they mention possible going treatment like Clomid?

It does feel like forever! She just said until we’ve got all the results back then there’s no need for an appointment and the wait is fairly long. We’re being seen at Wiltshire fertility clinic.

No mention of clomid yet. She kindly said my husband can call for his SA results next week as he’s panicking about them. My periods are regular and she wasn’t worried about the spotting 4-5 days before (at the moment, those were her words)

When is your first appointment?
Ours was very relaxed, did my height and weight then just chatted about history. She said if husbands SA comes back low then we qualify for funded ivf which is great x

My GP wouldn't refer until my partners semen results come back which is any day now. Think it will be the Leeds clinic we will go to.
I will be 41 if they insist on more blood tests on those same timescales!
I think our only issue is my age. So I'm hoping it will happen without intervention but it's disheartening to think it could be many months before options are explored.

@Holidaywindowshopperaddict I hope things are as speedy as possible for you and they get the ball rolling. Fingers crossed it’s just a case of needing Clomid. Your tests sound good so far :)

@Thewait2020 Ditto, wish you all the luck.
I always feel pretty under control but then you get sent a curve ball like finding out a close friend is pregnant or your monthly being late. It's then when I realise just how fragile I am underneath x
