Hello might seem a silly question but how would I know if I MC in early pregnancy? I assume it would be spotting? Thank you!

You'd only know for sure if you'd had a positive pg test first.
Or if you had been late and then the bleeding happened after that, it would seem likely youd been pg.
Are you asking, does an early miscarriage look like spotting? (No, not in my experience)
Or, if I'm spotting am I having a miscarriage (again no, I've spotted when the pg was fine and also when it was not).

Hope your ok OP.
My early miscarriage was not like spotting. I had a positive test and then started bleeding a week or so after, maybe 5/6 weeks.
It was very much like a heavy, long and moderately painful period which lasted a good two weeks.

Thank you both! Im 4 weeks +5 and just wondered what I should look out for if the worst happens. Im just 🙏🙏all stays okay. Early days though. I just want to take pg tests every day to reassure myself 😂😂 It is my first and Im just anxious.

I mc'd at 6 weeks. I had really severe cramps, worse than labour pains. Then slight spotting for a couple of hours, followed by huge blood loss, including clots the size of my palm. That continued for about 4 days, then settled to like a normal moderate period for about 3-4 days.
Its different for everyone though.

Honestly, you'll drive yourself mad. You can still get positive pg tests after you've miscarries so don't go down that route!

Miscarriage comes in all shapes and forms. I've just had one where I didn't bleed, sorry that's probably not what you wanted to hear, I'm just saying that it's different for each one and no one can tell you.

Fingers crossed you have a sticky baby

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Sometimes bleeding, sometimes (less often) a “missed” mc and bad news at the first NHS scan.

Hope you don’t experience it and have an uneventful and well pregnancy!

Dozer · 05/03/2020 18:54

Taking tests daily wouldn’t tell you much, could get costly and wouldn’t be good mental health wise!
