Should I be worried

Hi all, AF arrived this morning and it's completely knocked me and hubby. We got married in May last year and I came off the pill end of May (rigevidon). We are TTC our first child. We have been using apps and OPKs and have had no look so far. We regularly DTD. None of my friends are trying so I don't really have anyone to talk to. Any advice would be appreciated or words from people who went through the same thing and end up falling pregnant. Xx

Hi! Me and my partner have been trying since January 2019, we are both 26, no known issues and I have just been referred for some blood tests. GP told me it can take up to 2 years for a healthy couple to conceive and try not to stress (easier said than done!) I know it's frustrating but remain as positive as possible and maybe speak to your GP if you are worried x

I feel your pain i came off my pill aug 2019 and been trying since, but as previously said it can just take time, i think if you "try" it doesnt happen and i know its easier said than done to not try but dont focus so much on it because it can consume your entire life and bring you alot of sadness. It will happen for you

We've been trying since September 2018. He's had sperm tests and I've had a laparoscopy and dye test, plus hormonal tests. Absolutely everything is as it should be.

It's really frustrating but as a PP said it really can just take time. Once you've been TTC for a year I'd go to the GP. Ours has been excellent. We've decided to just carry on and see what happens before taking it any further; I'm 31 and DP 28 so seemed sensible for us.

I came off my pill in may 2016 and took until the December to conceive, once I stopped stressing so much ironically! It just takes time for some people, I don’t think you should worry too much yet. I hated all the movies etc that make out it’s so easy to get pregnant, maybe for some people but a normal couple can take up to a year!

Same!! Trying since August 2019, caught in September 2019 but miscarried at 5 weeks. It can be really shit at times can't it, I was crying to my boyfriend last night I just needed to get it off my chest. TTC used to be so fun but it's become a process and I obsess about dates and symptoms. As many people say it takes longer than you think xxx

Thanks for all the replies so far. He's 32 and I'm 28 this year. He is convinced there's something wrong with him as from the OPKs I've clearly been ovulating and my cycles are 26/27 days! I've got to go for my smear test next week so may ask for advice from the nurse. Did anyone try anything different like supplements etc before they went to the GP? X

No, not really. I've been taking folic acid forever and DP now takes an A-Z vitamin which includes zinc, which is meant to help with sperm.

Also, just because you're ovulating definitely doesn't mean that there must be something wrong with him. As others have said there is most likely no problem at all! I've found that the most frustrating bit, we now know we are in perfect health but it's not happening! I'm sure it will though but definitely see the GP if you can, you can start to rule things out then.

I've stopped using OPKs for a few months break as we are DTD every other day so will catch it eventually (in theory!)

The ovulation sticks don't actually confirm that you've ovulated just that you're possibly about to. Tracking your BBT (basal body temperature) is a good thing to do alongside using ovulation sticks as this is a better indication of actually ovulating.

I've just been to the GP (on my 8th cycle) and she referred me for blood tests right away because although I'm regular and ovulating and been pregnant before my cycles are quite like they used to be (short luteal phase and lighter periods). She told me 6 months is average to conceive and agreed a year is a long time. If my bloods come back abnormal I'll be referred to a fertility clinic before 12 months. I'm 28 OH 30 and we've been pregnant before no problems. Worth going to your GP. I don't believe supplements will help you conceive, I never took any last time and this time I've tried none and all, neither made any difference. Folic acid is an absolute must though!

Hi! I'm with you! Been TTC since September last year and no joy. Got all the tests done to ease my anxiety when it didn't happen initially. I've one polysystic ovary but I am ovulating so shouldn't be an issue. Never had any symptoms before so that's a puzzle. OH got tested too and he's fine. Finding the process really difficult and frustrating.

It's definitely no ones fault anyways...we just need patience which is easier said than done...

Don't lose hope OP! After 18 months of trying, look what happened today!
