Hi ladies just wondering if anyone has been on the implant/injection and how long it took to concieve or if anyone is trying after coming off either.
Any advice greatly welcomed

Hi Kgirl. Depo is evil!!! I can't speak for the implant, but the injection has caused me no end of grief. If you search it on the internet, there are some very scary stories.

I had it a few years ago, stopped after about 4 injections and it took 8 months for AF to return. Last year I had 1 injection in March as I worked out that I was due my AF on my wedding day! I bled for a month, so they gave me another one. I haven't had any since, but it took until december to get an AF. I also had a bad time thinking I was pg as I got all the symptoms, and with no AF I was continually testing. I was even on here back in October - which is weird, as some of the posters on the conception thread are announcing their births now!

Anyway, since AF has returned my cycle has been decreasing. I suspect I conceived this month but had an early MC - have a look on the shameless pregnancy symptoms thread as I've posted on there. I'll let you know how I get on, but one thing I know now - I'm never having another injection after the heartache it's caused me.

I'm sorry if this is bleak. I hope things are easier for you. Good luck with ttc

Hi abbymeg really sorry to hear u had such a hard time on the depo. I must admit i did'nt get anything like that i was on it for 5 years and didn't have periods for the whole time! I do know a few people who have said exactly the same as u and some said that the depo sets your body up for a baby but nothings there! If that makes sense.
I went straight on the implant after that and didn't get AF untill i'd been on that for 18 months. Srangely enough i got it 2 days before i had it removed! Hows that for timing!!!

i had the implannon and it took 18months to get pg after i had it removed my sis also had hers out ttc but went back onto the pill as nothing was happening! i warned my friend who has had the implannon in that if she after ttc have it out well before they plan on ttc!

kgirl · 07/09/2007 15:19

Well it seems i'm in for a long wait then. I did want to come off it abit before ttc but my hubby freaked out, thinking i'd end up getting pg straight away. I did try and tell him it doesn't work like that and u are really, really lucky if that happens but still no joy!
Men, can't live with them, can't kill them either .

kgirl...I had the depo injection four jabs, last jab was november 2004 then decided to ttc number 3 - have now been trying for nearly 3 years....periods took 18 months to come back properly and have just had 5th cycle of clomid with still no joy!! don't recommend depo at all !!!! Good luck though !

mummytheresa · 07/09/2007 17:19

Hi Kgirl I had the implanon for about 6 years. Had it out on the 13th August and have already had one AF. A long chat on here and with the nurse at the docs helped put my mind at rest. I thought it might take months to leave my system but it is literaly(sp) days 'onest!
Have had lots of stories and everybody knows somebody who concieved after 1st AF (fingers crossed thats me!) and even before.

mummytheresa · 07/09/2007 17:19

And no AF in all of those 7 years either

Pinner35 · 08/09/2007 13:00

Its not all bad.....I was on the depo for about 9 years. My last jab finished in the April 2006, AF returned in July and I was pg in the October.

alittlebitshy · 09/09/2007 10:11

I'm not sure if my story will help or not

I was on depo for 3 years... had last injection last august as we were planning to ttc number 2 from nov (my dh was another one who didn't want me to come off it early in case i gpt pg too soon). I got a bfp in March, but sadly miscarried, then another bfp followed by m/c in june.
ttc again now.....
I know I don't have a bump or a baby to show for it, but i wanted to prove that it isn't ALL bad - af can come back sooner than later as can fertitlity!
good luck!

alittlebitshy · 09/09/2007 10:12

fertitlity? i MEAN fertility, obviously

kgirl · 09/09/2007 11:51

Thanks for all the info ladies

It definatly can't be that bad as on friday i discovered that i'm pregnant!!!
Only about 4 weeks but spent yesterday telling the future grandparents.

DON'T USE DEPO AS IT WIL SCREW YOU UP!!!
Sorry to shout it but have suffered hell since I had it and only had 1 injection.Since it I put on an immense amount of weight(bad reaction as it doesn't want to shift)/My periods have been erratic/Have had false 5month PG/And was told at one point I would never have another dc as my hormones were so out of whack.
On top of this I've suffered depression and now agrophobia(which according to a lot of things I've read since is not unusual.
Depo was apparently created to castrate male sex offenders chemically. They discovered(somehow) that it could be used as a contraceptive. One set of figures I got said that it suited a lot less than half the people they tested it on.That was on their own website under docs info.It has now been removed. They also said that they never tested the effects of what it could do to a teenager and I had it when only 17 as I had just had my son and wanted to make sure so to speak.
I have a daughter now only after I took ST Johns wort for my depression.I took it for one month had norm periods for 2months and then fell pg.
Depo is seriously nasty stuff.

singingmum · 09/09/2007 12:04

Forgot to mention that I did fall pg after I came off pill(which I took when I decided not to have depo again)but miscarried. This is also a normal thing according to others I have read about or spoken to.
