Period clot or Miscarriage?

I am on the contraceptive implant so my periods are quiet irregular. I was 2 weeks late to when I thought I should’ve came on however as they are irregular, I thought nothing of this. I came on my period on Thursday, I had cramps which just felt like period cramps. Friday in my sanitary towel I found what looked like tissue ( fleshy looking ) a dark purple / liver colour, slightly oval shape but not a perfect shape as such. This was probably around the size of the average woman’s tip of the thumb and also looked like it had some additional tissue wrapped round the middle of it which made the width of the middle thicker then the tip / end of whatever this may have been.

My period pretty much started and finished the same day, as of Saturday - now I am barely bleeding at all.

When I googled this i came across this being either a clot from my period, or a miss carriage. As I am new to the web page, it will not allow me to attach the image I have so the above is the best description I can give, hopefully it is enough! Can someone advise if they are aware of which this may be? And also would a doctor be able to confirm this if all I have is the photo?

Maybe take a pregnancy test? If you miscarried there will still be hcg in your system. If positive then you'll know? Sorry can't think of any other way to figure it out.

Have you tested yet to check? Sorry if TMI, but if you still have the clot, soak it in salty water. A blood clot will eventually dissolve completely into the water, whereas pregnancy tissue doesn't dissolve.

@eatanazurecrayon No I haven't, do you know how long after it would still show as this was Friday night? Thank you for responding, really appreciate it!

@Elouera No I haven't on either unfortunately, I think I panicked then realised after googling what it may have been! Do you know how long after if I did a test it would show if it was a miscarriage / my hormones as this happened on Friday? Thank you for your help with this

@Anonymus123 I'd imagine a first response would still pick up

Hormone levels would depend on how far pregnant you might have been, but I'd certainly have tested if concerned.

Its also common to get clots in periods which most likely- especially as you have the implant in. Another thing is a decidual cast, which can look very dramatic!

@eatanazurecrayon Thank you so much.

@Elouera Thank you, would you suggest to do one over the next day or 2 anyway? Agreed regarding the implant, but when I seen what it may have been I haven't been able to get it off my mind so for my own sanity I think I just needed some advise. Thanks for your advise / help.

Yes, if you are concerned, and to put your mind at ease, I'd buy a FRER/early response type test and test with 1st urine of the day, as its more concentrated. I'd test asap and not wait more days though! Best of luck.

@Elouera Thank you SO much!
