Short Luteal Phase Gang!

Beau20 · 27/02/2020 09:05

I started a thread a while ago asking for success stories but now I would love to get all the girls together who are struggling to conceive with their short Luteal Phase!

Here's a little bit about me -

TTC #1
Cycle 7
28 years old
Luteal phase average 9-10 days longest being 11 days.
Ovulation CD17-18 cycles 26-28 days long

I have had 2 pregnancies before (both termination please no flaming) both conceived without even trying, one with my current partner of 6 years. I also had a chemical in January. My last contraception was Nexplanon for 1 year and before that I was on the pill for 10 years or so (which was when I conceived previous). I have been taking 50mg sertraline for 6 months then 100mg sertraline for 6 months after that and have just stopped completely today. This is the only thing I have been doing differently since I conceived last time so part of me thinks this may affect fertility.

I'd love to hear about everyone else's journey! x

Haha!! I hope the doctor is okay that I speak to on Friday... its a new surgery for me so haven't spoken to any doctor before yet. @Boc86

@SVC11 it depends... this cycle my bbt dropped and then I had spotting that day and AF arrived the day after. But last cycle It was raised for a few days into AF.
What's it like today?

SVC11 · 05/08/2020 11:26

@SVC11 Yeahh test again in afew days time and hopefully the line is darker 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Blossom428 · 07/08/2020 09:10

Spoke to the doctor this morning.. they said I have to have been trying for at least a year for any test to be carried out. Which I get, but it is annoying. I've said I came off at Christmas so at least they have 8 months on record.

Has anyone used a home testing progesterone kit? Do they work and are they the same at the doctors ones? As I could do this and then at least I can see what the result it.

Proseccoprincess33 · 07/08/2020 10:07

@blossom428 I'm sorry they said that. I thought they might say something like that but thank goodness you spun a wee white one. So frusrating that that's their process as if it's a simple fix like prog and you have to wait a year....! I've never used at home kits or heard of anyone who has used them. Have a look a reviews and see what people are saying. Might be worth a go.

@SVC11 that looks like a good line. 🤞 It gets darker xx

SVC11 · 07/08/2020 11:29

@Proseccoprincess33 I hope so...gonna test again tomorrow morn and see where we are... I'll leave a digital until I'm 15/16dpo as that would make me late in the real world.. But actually 5/6 days late for me..

SVC11 · 07/08/2020 11:29

@Proseccoprincess33 how are you getting on x

SVC11 · 08/08/2020 20:01

Updates from me... Got a positive on a digital woo! Any news from anyone else? Xx

Proseccoprincess33 · 08/08/2020 22:19

Whhhoooo @SVC11 Congratulations 🎊💐🎉 😀

No updates. Hoping to have my early scan wed week for assurance. I'll be 8 and 2 then hopefully 🤞 xx

Boc86 · 08/08/2020 22:30

Yaaaay @SVC11
How long was LP? Although I guess you won’t know with getting a bfp, how many dpo?

I’m 3dpo and have my progesterone bloods Wednesday at 7DPO

SVC11 · 08/08/2020 22:52

Ooo @Proseccoprincess33 coming along nicely! It's so worrying isn't it... I almost felt as though I can't really get excited yet... But it's a bfp so I should allow myself to get a little bit! @Boc86 I usually have a 9day lp and 24 day cycle. But I'm on cycle day 28 now... I'm gonna wait another couple weeks before telling my parents i think... Just to see how it goes... I'll be 4weeks post ovulate but '6weeks' by doctors standards by then so I think il feel a bit more confident (all going well). There is hope for us short lp girls though! Woo!

Blossom428 · 08/08/2020 22:54

Aww congrats @SVC11 amazing to see!!

Yeah @Proseccoprincess33 I'm just thinking at least the doctor is aware now and it's on their record. I will see if the vitamin B makes any more difference this cycle and then may look at the home testing kit.
Glad you are booked in for an early scan, I would be wanting to do the same!!

I really hope they change the way the fact that they don't let the partners in for the scans and for the whole birth. I feel if we can go to the OJ and other places with strangers it seems very unfair. Although I know private scans they can go in which is good!

Boc86 · 09/08/2020 06:34

Wonderful news @SVC11 did you do anything different this cycle?

SVC11 · 09/08/2020 07:01

@Boc86 good luck with your bloods. Hopefully they come back great! I'm absolutely terrified this one won't stick... I have no idea how long I should wait before I feel confident this will be the one.
I got my first line at 9dpo and I'm now 13dpo... It all seems a bit quick so I'm worried about thin lining and a chemical happening . I spose there's nothing I can do about it. I'm taking b complex this month. Just a packet I ordered from amazon. It seems to have helped though!

Boc86 · 09/08/2020 08:14

I can imagine how scary it must be, worrying about it sticking. Fingers crossed so tightly for you
Ahh yeah I’m on b6 x

Blossom428 · 09/08/2020 08:20

It gives us all hope though @SVC11 if you usually have a short LP too... how long is it usually?
I am only 8/9days.

I am taking vitamin B complex... then does anyone know if I would stop that and take the b6 after ovulation. Or would I continue to take the B complex and just add the B6 for extra?

SVC11 · 09/08/2020 08:30

@Blossom428 usually 9 days for me... So when I didn't come on I took a test and was so surprised to see a faint line already. I feel better now I've made it past 28 dpo. Now to head for the 6 week mark x

Blossom428 · 09/08/2020 09:02

That's amazing!! So good to hear some positivity from a short LP. 🤞🏽🤞🏽 for a sticky bean x @SVC11

bananabread2000 · 11/08/2020 00:09

Hi everyone, can I join?
I'm 39 and have been TTC #2 for 20 months now. I had a MC 18 months ago and, since then, nothing.

I use the clear blue OPK and get the peak smiley so it seems like I'm still ovulating but the ovulation day is getting later and later (CD20 this time) despite my cycle remaining 28 days! Everything I've read seems to suggest that it's impossible for the ovulation day to change/be later without the whole cycle being longer! Has anyone else experienced this?

AnonymousXXIX · 11/08/2020 15:00

@bananabread2000 I have had a positive opk for 5 days in a row now, currently on CD16 but still no peak! Just a good clear line, but never as dark as the control line (I use the premom app, and it registers as about 0.5, while normally 'low' for me is 0.1-0.2 and 'high' is over 0.8-1). So confused, as the last several months I have had very regular peaks between CD 12 and CD 14. What's going on?!

SVC11 · 12/08/2020 23:03

Gosh does anyone know when the worrying stops lol. I'm 17dpo so CD32 ish... So 2.5weeks technically but 4.5 by doctors standards. I'm wondering if I shld tell my mum or if I'm still really at risk of having a chemical (or miscarriage... When does one become the other?) urgh I know she'd kill me if I waited until 12 weeks to say something lol x

AnonymousXXIX · 13/08/2020 06:50

@SVC11 it's personal preference, but I would rather tell my mum straight away; so if it did all go wrong (really hope not ofc!!) she'd comfort me.

Molly3456 · 13/08/2020 08:21

Vitamin B6 made my last cycle 1 day longer so 9 days instead of 8 😫 I’m going to continue taking this month currently CD 13 of my 27 day cycle and still no peak. Does anyone have any other vitamins they have seen benefits with, I am booked in for an ultrasound with the hospital just waiting for a letter to come through the post

Blossom428 · 13/08/2020 08:59

@SVC11 yeah I guess it is up to you and when you want to tell your mum. Like @AnonymousXXIX says she can be there for you no matter what. But if you want to wait a bit then that's also fine. Are you going to get an early scan?

@Molly3456 an extra day is better than no extra day, it might do the same on the next cycle too which would be good. Do you just take the b6 after ovulation?

I'm currently taking Evening primrose oil to help with CM(but tbf I've not noticed much difference), coq10 I've just started taking which improves egg quality- so having a strong egg may help it push through the short LP,
Vitamin C is also meant to be good for progesterone, and then I take a vitamin B complex, but unsure where to take a B6 on top of this after ovulation or just stop and take B6.

LemonDrizzle44 · 13/08/2020 09:40

Hi everyone. Hope it's ok to join?

I'm 32 and about to start TTC #1 within the next couple of months. I came off the pill (yasmin) in February. Since then my cycles have been anything between 27 and 36 days. This is my first month tracking my BBT and I've noticed my temp drops 8dpo, does anyone else have this, is it normal, I've read it can be a LP defect? I

I never realised how complicated our cycles can be!!!
