Anyone had success with Vitex Agnus Castus for Luteal Phase spotting?

I bleed in my LP. Wouldn't even call it spotting really. Dr is disinterested but I will go back again in a few months. They say its hormonal though. General bloods, day 2 bloods and pelvic scan all normal.

My months vary. Usually 27 day cycles give or take a day. This month I started spotting on day 23 and its slowly increasing. But last month it was quite bad from day 17.

I just wondered if anyone had used vitex for this with success?

I'm using it! Noticed it did reduce it from around 11 days to 5...but was hoping the spotting would go all together. Only first month though and on the second now. Although pretty sure I've seen some spotting today but I'm supposed to be ovulating today.. Never had it on ovulation before

@Hllousie1702 you usually get 11 days spotting?

It varies sometimes up to 11 yes. Have been to doctor and they didn't know what it was. They referred me to gynaecology but I'm yet to have an appointment they're very busy. The spotting is a really small amount though and if I wasn't ttc I doubt I'd notice it.

@Hllouise1702 mine can be a lot. My own Dr was more useful than gynaecology. My dr did all the tests then referred me. Gynaecology said- must be hormonal. Go back on the pill if you don't like it. Yeah great!

So useless. I'd say try the vitex! Might be helpful.

What's the dosage that you take ladies? I see different brands have different strength and recommended dosage....

I used to get on average 7 days spotting every month before my period. I was considering Agnus cactus but was a bit nervous. I decided to cut right back on sugar instead. Didn't change anything else. My spotting really improved and I got a bfp after 2 months of low sugar.
I know this doesn't really answer your question but thought would share in case anybody else with spotting might find this works for them too.

I take two tablets 400 mg a day. Cycles were ranging from 25-27 days and after taking vitex for one month it lengthened it to 28 but so far fingers crossed hasn't messed anything up. The sugar thing is interesting is that just sugar in processed food or you talking about sugar in fruit too? Am doing the fodmap diet in April for my IBS so hoping it might help with ttc too

Hllouise1702 · 26/02/2020 22:22

Sorry I meant 2 400 mg tablets so 800 mg in total

@Ridethewaves interesting as I eat lots of sugar. Although I did diet last year for my wedding and cut out most crap and it didn't affect it.

I've ordered the tincture as opposed to tablets.
