Short luteal phase - anything to try?

I am going into my third cycle of trying for my second child. I have a short luteal phase - in my first month, I got a positive ovulation test on day 17 (so assume I ovulated day 18) in a 27 day cycle, and last month I got a positive test on day 18 (so assume a day 19 ovulation) in a 28 day cycle.

I am taking 50mg vitamin B6 each day but think I will up this to 100mg. Has anyone tried any other supplements?

Thanks @Boobahs You have been very helpful. I have no reason to think I’m not ovulating but appreciate it’s probably best to track things thoroughly!

Have actually noticed this period is heavier than usual, this is the first month I’ve taken B6 for the whole cycle.

@Boobahs I have a question. If using the cream during LP only, if you don't get pregnant, would the cream delay AF? I'm guessing you should stop using it when AF is due? But obviously you wouldn't want to suddenly do that in case you are pregnant? Or would AF still come regardless?

Beau20 · 26/02/2020 15:13

@paintfairy @Boobahs I have just bought the cream and was going to ask the same question - also when do you start using it? I'm off to see my GP next tuesday and going to ask if she will prescribe me actual progesterone as I've had 2 chemicals in the last 6 cycles.

paintfairy · 27/02/2020 09:31

@Beau20 www.balancedplatter.com/progesterone-cream-ttc/ this is useful. There's a video link with a lady describing how to use it for fertility, a bit down the page.

Thank you @PeterPipersPepper trying to keep positive every month. I’m beyond ovulation maybe 1DPO, AF due next Thursday so maybe an 8 day LP.

@Boobahs I’m wondering, do you mean I should be taking a Vitamin B6 tablet and a Vitamin B Complex?

Boobahs · 01/03/2020 09:20

@paintfairy @beau20 @positivity2019

Sorry ladies, I haven't been on here for a couple of days. I'll add my chart from the month I conceived DS2 so you can see. My temperature ALWAYS dropped on 9DPO and my period would arrive, so when it didn't I was already suspicious. The big increase at 10DPO was almost like a positive pregnancy test for me! I did research whether the cream would have kept my temperature high and delayed my period without conceiving, some people said it did for them, others said their period came anyway. I waited to test until 12DPO (which I'd never reached before other than the month I conceived DS1).

As I said, the cream worked on the first month that I tried it, so I don't really have anything to compare it to for you guys. I guess I would say knowing my cycles really helped but I was very regular and understand that others could find this more tricky.

Definitely take a B Vitamin Complex as well as B6, as it can create an imbalance if you take too much of just one. Good luck to you all!!! ThanksCake

That should say I tested at 13DPO Hmm

Beau20 · 01/03/2020 14:19

@Boobahs thanks lovely!! When did you start using the cream? Xx

Boobahs · 01/03/2020 15:35

Oh sorry, I started using it straight after I ovulated Smile

Beau20 · 01/03/2020 19:53

@Boobahs thank you so much! Hoping mine arrives in time! I just sent a snotty email asking where it was, ordered it a week ago only to realise after I sent the email it's coming from America 🙈🙈🙈

Positivity2019 · 01/03/2020 21:33

Ah ok @Boobahs thanks for the advice. Makes sense I guess. Gosh it’s so hard to know what to do for the best!
Good luck to you and everyone!!

paintfairy · 01/03/2020 21:53

@Beau20 😂 oops. Which one did you buy?

PeterPipersPepper · 24/03/2020 10:54

Is anyone having any luck lengthening their phase with vitamin B6?

I had a ten day luteal phase - I didn’t ovulate until day 20 and then got my period day 30. Started getting pre menstrual cramps 6 days post ovulation so it just feel the window is so small to implant, it seems impossible.

paintfairy · 24/03/2020 11:16

I started taking it last month. No change yet.

PeterPipersPepper · 24/03/2020 11:20

Good luck @paintfairy. I did one month of 50mg a day and now one month of 100mg a day but whichever day I ovulate (it’s been either day 18, 19, or 20) ten days later my period arrives like clockwork!

OP posts:
paintfairy · 24/03/2020 11:23

@PeterPipersPepper I did 50mg a day. Maybe I should up it. If I can even get more!

PeterPipersPepper · 24/03/2020 11:29

Oh gosh yes - hope you can get your hands on some more.

OP posts:
PeterPipersPepper · 24/03/2020 11:35

Also @Beau20 did you end up seeing your doctor? Did you get prescribed anything?

OP posts:
PeterPipersPepper · 24/03/2020 11:59

And from more reading I’ve done it looks like Vitamin C is worth trying - I’ve seen 750mg and 1500mg mentioned (I know that’s a lot!)

Has anyone had any luck yet from this thread? Either a longer luteal phase or a pregnancy?

I had an eight day luteal phase this month so my lowest yet Sad
