@Kiza thanks for the welcome. I am definitely feeling the pressure with being older. I am going to give it a few more cycles and then if it still isn't happening I will go to the GP. Have you had any tests done? We just have to keep positive but it is easier said than done.

Lozzlepop · 11/03/2020 10:00

Morning ladies!

Welcome @Skyla01 you wont find a better more supportive bunch of ladies than here! I think a lot of us are in the same boat- I have friends younger than us who are onto baby 2. Are you going to test tomorrow?

@KrissyMB hopefully you do fall quickly just remember it takes a normal healthy couple a year on average to get pregnant 🙂

@Carley321 Yeah definitely! I hope you are feeling better, sorry I am a bit clueless but what is the lap for?

@CoalCraft I took folic acid for the past year (not taking it anymore) I just used to get the boots own stuff and then switched to pregnacare the times I was pregnant.

@Kiza sorry to hear AF arrived- she's just the worst! Yeah I know.....think that would be harder to cope with, DF is already very apprehensive about trying again 😔so I think if they didn't find anything we would need to have a serious discussion about everything.

@whatsthecraic91 don't know why but had a good giggle at gushing! Fingers crossed for no pre AF spotting!

@Narwhal88 an ice pack haha poor DH, hmm thats a point I never even thought about, they had better not cancel my appointments after waiting so long

@Anny27 oh yes Dr Google all they way here too lol. I am CD who knows 😂hoping that AF shows up next week as I cant be on her for getting my HSG and dont really want it pushed back anymore.

Hope everyone has a great day 😃

FarmerWantsABaby · 11/03/2020 12:57

Hi ladies just an update, had my viability scan yesterday and there's a wee peanut with a very strong heartbeat there 💓 🥰 7 weeks +2 today which makes me due around 28th October.
Midwife appt in two weeks so will have a better idea of dates etc then.

Annny27 · 11/03/2020 13:12

Wonderful news @FarmerWantsABaby 💗💗

@Lozzlepop so your hsg is quite soon then? Will be good to get all your tests over and done with and then you can focus on wedding!

Lozzlepop · 11/03/2020 14:24

@FarmerWantsABaby ahhhhhh thats amazing, I am so so happy for you both ❤️

@Anny27 its on April 2nd and then I have the infamous blood clotting test on April 14th! I have provisionally booked my venue!!!!

CoalCraft · 11/03/2020 17:37

@Lozzlepop Yeah, I just bought the Tesco own brand; I figure 400 ug of folic acid from Tesco is the same as 400 ug from anywhere else!

@FarmerWantsABaby Congrats, that's wonderful!!

Narwhal88 · 11/03/2020 17:38

@CoalCraft @Skyla01 we aren't at the cancelling clinic stage yet but it is definitely ramping up! I work at the hospital and we are all looking at working from home options at the mo. I wouldn't stop TTC due to it though.

@Annny27 haha maybe I will suggest that too. The ice packs were his idea as he had read about it helping so he can't blame me 🤣

@Skyla01 I would go to your GP now as it helps get the ball rolling. I went in February and just said we had been trying 12 months (was actually 8 months but 10 cycles) and now we have found out about DH SA results we can start the process sooner as we know there is definitely a problem. I know what NHS waiting times are like! Just because it has been a year doesn't mean you won't conceive naturally though!

So happy for you @FarmerWantsABaby just goes to show it really does take a year!

CoalCraft · 11/03/2020 17:40

@Annny27 Honestly it wouldn't have occurred to me to take folic acid at all either of I hadn't randomly stumbled on the NHS TTC advice, then all the mentions I'd seen of folic acid on this board suddenly made sense lol

I'm not worried though; by the time I'm really in the running I'll have been on them for a little while Smile

CoalCraft · 11/03/2020 17:42

@Narwhal88 sorry, cross post, that's really interesting to know! It won't put me off TTC but good to be aware for sure.

Completely makes sense for folks working in a healthcare setting to consider working from home; hope you all stay safe and virus free!

whatsthecraic91 · 11/03/2020 19:23

@Narwhal88 I've asked DP to go commando in his sweats when he gets home from work and I'll give it to him he's been doing it! Don't think he would fancy the ice pack - that's dedication right there 😂

@Skyla01 are you going to go to the GP now it's hit the one year?

@Annny27 temps not up yet I expect it to be in the morning, more EWCM today and today is my predicted ov day. Didn't get to DTD last night so we defo are tonight - I don't give a shit if Liverpool are playing 🤣🤣 I'm defo more relaxed this cycle but I think it's because work is so busy and I'm not sitting googling stuff all day 😂

@Lozzlepop gushing 😂 it was literally the only word that best described it 😂 hope AF comes on time so you can get your test done! Unlike mine last cycle that waited to the day off my appointment to make an appearance 😐

@FarmerWantsABaby fab news! Congratulations again - I'm sure you can relax a bit more now! Hope the lambs are all here too! 🐑

rathernotshare · 11/03/2020 19:25

@FarmerWantsABaby congratulations that's amazing news!!!

Kiza · 11/03/2020 19:40

@FarmerWantsABaby fab news for you both, hope it's given you some reassurance and you can begin to enjoy the pregnancy now ☺️

@Skyla01 i suppose it depends on your age and your local ccg and if you'd consider ivf on the nhs as what you're offered according to your age varies based on your postcode. If you're a bit older and keen to try and conceive soon then it's worth getting the call rolling. We went to our GP first in august 2019 and have only just completed all investigations as they can take a while due to waiting lists in various departments etc (you'd think it'd all be the same department but nope!)

@Wearyandfeelingold yeah we've had all tests done as we have now been trying for 18cycles with a couple of MC and due to our age we wanted to get the call rolling. Sorry if you've mentioned it before but how long have you been trying and when do you turn 40? It's just 40 is the cut off age on the nhs for ivf.

Wearyandfeelingold · 12/03/2020 10:05

@kiza We have been trying for just over 6 months. I will be 40 in October. I didn't realise that 40 was the cut off point for IVF. We live in NI so I am not sure if it is the same here or not but I do know that the waiting lists are so long for anything here. Was your GP able to do the tests or did you have to be referred to a specialist? We have to wait weeks for even a GP appointment so maybe I should just ring and book one as it probably will be about 6 weeks as not urgent! AF has arrived and I am just wondering what we could do differently this month? I used Clearblue advanced ovulation kit....maybe I should buy some cheapies as well so that can test more than once a day? Also do you temp? I have been reading a bit about that but have never done it.

Can anyone recommend anything? TIA.

Kiza · 12/03/2020 10:37

@Wearyandfeelingold where do I start as we have tried pretty much everything! 😆
Our GP organised my d21 bloods and DP 1st SA and at the same time he referred us to the fertility consultant at the hospital (we had been trying for 10months but fibbed).
DP SA came back with low morphology, we met the consultant and she ordered HSG, tv scan, AMH, and lots more blood work and 2nd SA for DP. We saw the GP in aug so it's taken 7 months to get all that done.
I take pre conception vits + coQ10, Ashwaghanda. DP takes zinc, vit E, lycopene, Ashwaghanda. We both stopped caffeine and alcohol and we are both vegan and work out 4-5 times per week with healthy BMI. I also have had Accupuncture and hypnotherapy.

Its been tough but we try to stay optimistic, we've tried SMEP as well as being relaxed about DTD and still no joy. We weren't ready for the IVF conversation so was a bit of a surprise when our consultant mentioned it based purely on my age and the cut off.

I tried temping and it's really good but I wake up a lot in the night so couldn't get accurate readings. I track my CM, CP and use opk daily or sometimes twice a day as I'm gearing up to O. I use a fertility tracker app also, sounds like a a lot but after such a long time with no joy I feel like we have to throw everything at it whilst also trying to remain happy and living our lives!
Maybe look into some of the above and see what feels right for you and your lifestyle

Lozzlepop · 12/03/2020 11:13

Morning ladies

@CoalCraft exactly! TBH its probably all manufactured in the same place!

@whatsthecraic91 I think she should be here next week as pretty sure I had early OV this month!

Freaking out a bit today as I feel quite sick but we literally have been religiously using condoms so I think (praying) I am just being paranoid! Wouldn't even mind if AF showed up early just to get her out the way! Hope everyone is having a good Thursday so far!

Wearyandfeelingold · 12/03/2020 11:20

@Kiza thank you so much for all of this information. So sorry that you have been through all of this as it really does wear you down each month. I am trying to stay upbeat about everything but it is hard. I think I will make a GP appointment and get the ball rolling as we may need to have a few tests done. I am taking Folic acid + Vit D. I think I will start DH on the wellman pre-conceive vitamins....can't do any harm.

I will buy some opks - which ones do you use and can recommend so then I can test more than once a day? Also this may sound silly - but is temping...literally taking your temperature? Do you need a special thermometer? Think I need to download an app and get tracking!

I am willing to try anything. Thank you so much for your suggestions.

whatsthecraic91 · 12/03/2020 19:55

@Wearyandfeelingold hey 👋🏼 I'm in NI too and I went to my GP in January as we had been trying for a year. Got my 21day bloods and DP got his SA. Dr ordered a TV scan and when I called up to see the waiting list was 13 months! So I went private for it and got it done within 2 weeks I'm now waiting on an HSG, the wait isn't too long for it only 3/4 months so I'm not going private for it. So defo get to your GP ASAP the waiting lists here are ridiculous. What area are you in?

whatsthecraic91 · 12/03/2020 19:56

@Annny27 temps still not up 😕 I have a feeling it's gonna be one of those cycles again 😐

Annny27 · 13/03/2020 08:11

Morning ladies cd11 here! Had some EWCM yestersay so think fertile week is here/ on the way 🙌

@lozzlepop ahh will that be your first or second blood clotting test? Hopefully your period will arrive soon and put your mind and ease!

@whatsthecraic91 ahh rubbish! Keep DTD and watch for the temp increase hopefully 🤞

@Wearyandfeelingold we use one step ovulation tests from Amazon- good reliable and cheap :D

@CoalCraft I take the seven seas pre conception tablets which are super small and easy to swallow

Lottiepink · 13/03/2020 08:43

Morning everyone,

Wow there's a lot to catch up on 😂 I haven't managed to get through them all!

Welcome to everyone new 😊

@Anny27 fertile week 👏🏻 you doing anything different this cycle?

@whatsthecraic91 aww soo annoying, funny how our bodies work sometimes!

@FarmerWantsABaby aww amazing congratulations, hope it all goes smoothly for you 😊

@Lozzlepop hopefully it's just paranoia, if you have been religious using them, fingers crossed they've worked... didnt think I would say that on a ttc chat 🤣

We had our first app at the hospital on Wednesday morning, went ok, DH had to do hormone bloods, I'll get my tv scan at the next app in 10 week and we will discuss the results there. I was mis informed about the bmi range previously so got to get back to the loosing more weight. I really struggle to lose it but it's defo gave me a kick up the bum. Other than that we went through all the paperwork and usual stuff, I'm not fully ruled out (due to scans etc) but he said I'm definitely ovulating and I've to stop temping now as I don't need to do it, and it just adds more stress. I kind of miss it already, I'll probably just do the odd one in the cycle so I know where I'm at?! What do you guys think? Due to DH precious sperm tests though, he thinks IVF will be needed as they were so low and 0% morphology but the lifestyle changes that have been made need to be continued and who knows, it may help...

CoalCraft · 13/03/2020 09:09

Morning all, happy Friday! Just gotta hang on there another day till the weekend ☺️

@Lottiepink I totally understand the temptation to temp now and then, but I suspect temping once might lead to more temptation to temp again sand or might be better to go cold turkey!

Glad you've had your app, it must be reassuring to know you are definitely ovulating. Good luck with the weight loss and I really hope the lifestyle changes help with your DH's morphology xx

Narwhal88 · 13/03/2020 09:40

@Lottiepink we seem to be in a similar situation! My first appt is in 10 days. I've already had my d21 test which shows I'm ovulating. Problem is with DH sperm it seems so I suspect we will be told the same as you in that we will need IVF. I want to rule any problems out with me though so hopefully they will send me for scans as well. What was your DH sperm results if you don't mind sharing? Ours was low count at 2million and morphology 2%. Oh what is the BMI range? I figured it would be under 30? Hopefully this drive will help you to lose the weight. I lost 2.5 stone for my wedding last year, it can be done when you have the right motivation!

I've been doing some research and it seems my DH has hyperspermia, which means he produces too much semen which then dilutes it - his volume was 8.5ml and it's meant to be like 2.5ml! No wonder DTD is always a messy business 🤣

Wearyandfeelingold · 13/03/2020 09:58

@whatsthecraic91 Hi! Thanks for the welcome....another NI person, great! :) I rang to make an appt with the GP....its not for 6 weeks as that was the first that I could get unless its an emergency. I am from the North Coast and to get a GP appointment is crazy...never mind the waiting lists. So I think it is best to get started as I am sure there will be tests needed. Do you mind me asking - do you chart your temp? I haven't done that before but thinking I might need to? I am going to buy some cheapie opks as well..those Clearblue ones are expensive! Lol!

@Annny27 thank you .....I will order some of those and use them...

Just so much to get my head around!!

Factualmistakes · 13/03/2020 10:18

@Wearyandfeelingold Wilkinsons do a pack of 5 opk tests for around a quid. I have bought a few and tested this month and I got results so think they are as reliable as they can be for cheap ones. I also got some Pregnancy Tests for when the time comes to as they are also cheap. Don't want to waste expensive ones until i'm sure!

Wearyandfeelingold · 13/03/2020 10:24

@Factualmistakes.....that sounds like a good idea....it can get expensive otherwise...
