Rochdale CCG NHS funding

Hiya all.
Im v new to the process of investigating IVF but have come up against a query. Having had all of our infertility tests with the NHS (except for ovarian reserve) I've recently turned 40 and been told they will no longer offer IVF. We've looked into going private and we can pay for that if we need to but I've looked at the CCG guidelines and I'm not convinced that we're ineligible for maybe 1 shot with NHS funding (even if at a private clinic). We live in the Rochdale area and I had my tests with North Manchester. Does anybody have experience in this area? Thankyou.

Unfortunately whilst the NICE guidelines RECOMMEND one cycle for women 40+ local CCG don't have to implement it. 99% of places state you have to be referred no later than age 39 and complete treatment no later than age 40

I wouldn't bother appealing it as I don't think you'll get anywhere - even though NICE recommends a certain number of cycles some areas don't offer ANY IVF now eg Peterborough

It's largely because of such poor success rates over 40 years old and also I suspect it's because the NHS doesn't agree with providing it to people who willingly wait until later in life to start trying

If you can afford it go private - you will get much better service anyway x
