Waiting for first natural AF since coming off the pill

Hi all

Hopefully there is someone else is in the same boat as me! I came off the pill (Cilest) in January and my withdrawal bleed started on 19th Jan. I'm now on CD 30 and (not very!) patiently waiting for AF to start so that I can start properly tracking for cycle no.2! I'm hoping there are a few people out there who want to join me on this journey :)

I keep getting cramps one day and then nothing the next so who knows what is going on down there!

I was on various pills from 16-30 to control my skin. After 30, used withdrawal method for contraception but had long cycles (35-45 days.) Started ttc at 31 and it took about 18 months (17 weeks pregnant now!)

Worried a lot in between. Found Maisie Hill’s period power really helpful in understanding my cycles. Tracked temp but never OPK’s. Had some acupuncture but wasn’t when I conceived. Took cq10 and folic acid.

By the time we conceived I had had three regular, 30 day cycles.

Never stopped stressing, never found that advice very helpful!

Ps, the main thing we did was have loads of sex. Every other day at least from end of my period for about three weeks. From my dates it looks like I was ovulating two day after my app was predicting.

Amazing news @Katbaby!! Congratulations :) Just goes to show it doesn't matter what length the cycles are in some ways! Did you find you were pretty much DTD every other day? I try to do that....!

Congratulations to you too @sallywinter. Very exciting! I have days where I do think about it more than I should and then other days where I feel really relaxed. I felt much better after writing on this group though as it's good to vent!

Thank you @LuluHeidi every 2-3 days we did for the whole cycle. There was the odd week we would go 3 to 4 days without but looking at the week I think we conceived, we did every other day so was lucky that's when I ovulated

Hi ladies, I came off my pill (Yasmin like @katbaby) around 15th October 19, I had a withdrawal bleed about 3 days later until 22nd October and then had nothing else until my first AF arrived 9th January (almost 3 months after coming off of Yasmin) After that my cycles were 41 days and 32 days am now on CD32 and still no AF so am still not completely back to normal (although secretly hoping as I do every month that it could be a BFP!)

I did take vitamins a couple of months before I even came off the pill and they didnt seem to make much of a difference.

I do wonder whether some pills have a longer lasting effect than others, or whether it can be influenced by the amount of time you have been taking the pill.

Thought I'd update as I hated reading old threads and never finding out what happened with everyone haha and it might be useful for anyone else who has irregular cycles after coming off the pill...So.... I had my BFP on Friday!! Couldn't believe my eyes! Since coming off the pill in January I only had two cycles and conceived on the second on approx. CD50.

@Lovely27 I also noticed that when I remembered to take my mutivitamins it helped kick start things :)

For those waiting for your first AF after the pill keep positive it WILL come and I wish you luck on your TTC journey :)

@LuluHeidi yay congratulations!!! That's really lovely news.

I had an AF at the end of April which was good even though it wasn't a BFP! Means that things are getting back to normal finally.. 2 AFs in 10 months! Just waiting to ovulate now... Hoping it'll be any day now as starting to see signs but no positive ovulation test yet.

It will happen any day by the sounds of it @Lovely27. Looking back I had ovulation symptoms at least a week before it happened on both occasions (I had two cycles over 4 months after coming off the pill). Sounds like your cycles are getting in to a better routine though :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! X

Hi girls I hope you don't mind me jumping on here. I was on Yasmin (for acne and baby prevention) but came off the pill in February. 1st real cycle was 43 days, 2nd was 34 days and 3rd cycle seems to be lasting FORVEVER (currently sitting on cycle day 37). Acne has returned with vengence, but strangely feeling less hormonal and less all over the place. Driving myself insane testing (I swear I see super super faint lines in every test) generally just obsessed. I said 'if it happens, it happens' but I'm so impatient. Please tell me I'm not the only one out there who's an impatient, acne riddled mess with an obsession for peeing on sticks?

You're not alone! I am here impatiently waiting for first AF after coming off the pill (been on it for ten years).

Odd thing is I ll be pleased when it arrives then never want to see it going forward so I can get a BFP...

I know this is an old thread but it made me smile, thank you for updating as I too am still waiting for AF to arrive currently CD 54 pregnacy test negative.

This thread has made me hopefull ( I never thought I be so desperate for a period lol) , I hope ur pregnancies are going well and massive baby dust to all x x :)

I was on desogestrel birth control pill

I'm now newly pregnant but prior to that had one cycle of 141 days and the next on was on day 47 when I got my BFP!
