Repeat miscarriage

I was wondering if anybody had any advice on repeat/reoccurring miscarriage. So I have had to fight my gynaecologist after over a year of ttc and 4 miscarriages to send me for tests to find out why I'm miscarrying and I've been trying to what research I can about options. So I've been scanned, swabbed and I'm waiting for the results of the thrombophilia profile and the swabs. I'm going to see what the results are for that but my gynaecologist is very reluctant to help me so I want to be armed with info, so far the medications I've been reading about are a progesterone supplement, medication to boost egg quality and to thin the blood. I have also read about Tommy's (the charity) and the work they've been doing through Coventry University hospital, Birmingham University hospital and another site in London. Somebody was saying you can self refer but it costs money or get a gp referral I was wondering if anybody could arm me with some more info and if they knew a bit more about the Tommy's clinics they do and the price

I'm very sorry for your losses @Cat132435. You are eligible for recurrent miscarriage testing. Your GP can refer you. At this stage it shouldn't cost anything. I've had the initial blood tests but no answers so I'm going for private natural killer cells tests at Coventry.

Thank you venus, you too it's a hard thing to go through, I've seen the gyny and she's sent me for some testing; bloods, swab and a scan but I was just wondering if there's anything else, I'm really curious about the nk cells, have you reached out to the hospital? Let me know how it goes

Unfortunately support on the NHS is minimal at best

There is no medication available to improve egg quality via the NHS - lots of supplements you can buy on amazon or boots claim that though (coq10 etc)

IF something comes up in your blood you might be offered blood thinners however my experience is you don't get it until you're 6 weeks by which point it could be too late

NHS recurrent miscarriage clinics also won't give progesterone - I tried getting that out of them and told no. They don't test your progesterone levels as part of their tests anyway

I get medications to try and prevent miscarriages via my ivf clinic including prednisolone blood thinners and progesterone and they also gave it to me whenever I've managed to conceive naturally as well and I've found them much more supportive but obviously you have to pay for it

Thank you @Cat132435 I don't think the NHS recurrent miscarriage clinics do much more than you've had, although I found the appointment with the specialist helpful to talk through my concerns. But unless something shows up in your results, they only offer extra scans.

You can self-refer to Coventry and its Professor Quenby's implantation clinic. I'm hoping to do this next month - you have to not had a mc or d&c in the month previous. As my chemical was last month, we're taking this month off ttc. They biopsy your endometrial lining 7-10 days after your ovulate (self report with opks) for 2 cycles (you can't be pregnant, so it'll mean 3 months off for us in total). If it shows you do have high nk cells, they'll prescribe steroids amongst other things. The tests are around £500.

I'll keep you posted. I feel more hopeful now we've made the decision to go forward with this.
