Hello, I am about 270lbs and TTC and am worried it will hamper our efforts. I am on slimming world have lost 3 stone so far although Christmas helped me find 1.5 of that back palm face

Has anyone has issues with TTC whilst fat?

Any tips to make it easier?

I am a little disheartened and wondering if we should give up until I hit a certain weight, which could be years!

I am currently using the clear blue ovulation kit for the first time this cycle so hoping that helps but it hasn’t detected LH surge yet and I’m on my third high day, no idea if that is normal. My Flo app already says it ought to have happened already been using that for over a year.. Probably why we didn’t get pregnant with it.

How old are you OP? If you can afford to wait a year to focus on weight loss and becoming healthier then that could help improve your chances/allow for a smoother pregnancy. However, plenty of bigger people get pregnant with no issues - so don't lose heart!

When I was 28 I got pregnant at 21stone, I didn't put anymore weight on and my weight stayed the same from beginning go end. I would say that I developed gestational diabetes in this pregnancy which was my third, didnt on the previous so I had to control my eating so as not to make things worse, you need more monitoring throughout as it's difficult to measure how big the baby is as the use a tape measure on your tummy which tends to give a distorted measurement because your tummy is bigger due to the extra weight. I would say that pregnancy at a larger weight is hard and walking, bathing etc but I managed it. I would say just try losing weight at a healthy rate and you should be fine x good luck

Well done on the weight loss you have managed. We'd TTC 4yrs, and although only in the overweight category, we tried getting fitter and both lost 10kg. I conceived the following month! Extra weight plays hovoc with hormones and the increased risk during a pregnancy can be vast (but I'm sure you are aware of all these things).

Sadly things didn't work out for us with that or the next pregnancy, but getting fit again to start IVF next month. I've found a keto diet great this time around. Best of luck x
