Weight loss when TTC

Hi ladies,
I'm looking to see if anyone else is on a similar journey to me... I got married in October 2019 and we decided to start TTC in December. I'm on cd1 of cycle 3 and I have decided that I really need to focus on eating well and weight loss.

I lost some weight for the wedding which I have regained since and a bit more. I know having a higher weight & BMI impacts fertility and also pregnancy but I also don't want to go on a crazy diet because I'd like to continue healthy eating into pregnancy when the time comes.

Would anyone like to join me in eating well for healthy weight loss & pregnancy?

I thought it would also be nice to have a thread that could help take our minds off our cycles and all the waiting 🙂

Xx

Also I work in nutrition & part of my job is in antenatal clinic supporting ladies with their diets so I have a good knowledge but applying it in really life and sticking to it can be hard so wanted to find some friends to keep me company and for support along the way ❤️

Yessss 100% here! I'm trying to find the balance between working towards and goal and keeping myself informed on all sides of the conversation. But some way to stay accountable (or whinge about not eating cake) would be fab!

In a similar situation to you OP. This is my 3rd month TTC and I'm going back to SW this week as concerned my weight may effect TTC

I'll join 🙋🏼‍♀️
TTC since October but came off the pill in September my cycles are all over the place. I do try to be healthy and my BMI is only slightly higher than average but I got married in July 19 and have put on since then and I definitely felt better about myself then. I have absolutely zero will power and a real sweet tooth!! I've always struggled with diet, I exercise on and off (but I am queen of excuses...). My healthy lifestyle changes never seem to last as long as I'd like them to! Determined to be a bit healthier for TTC sake. I've actually been pretty good this week I think Smilexx

Welcome @zinrepus @ellelikespizza @bluebell94!!!

It's so hard to stick to isn't it. But feeling healthier is so important. So you're doing SW @ellelikespizza. What about the others? Do you have anything in particular in mind?

I'm going to following a low Gi plan with wholegrains, fruit and veg, fish, lean meats and pulses. I want to try to limit junk food but I won't cut it out completely because I do believe that we need balance.

If we over restrict then we tend to the overindulge in reaction to it. I want to avoid that if possible. Xx

Also do any of your have any weight loss goals?

I'm aiming for 10lb loss which will be 5% of my total body weight. And that's whats recommended to improve health outcomes. I've taken a bit of a medical approach on my weight loss target because I just didn't know what to aim for... It felt like a good goal 🙂
