I'm getting so confused with ovulation

So even ovulation calculated I've checked seems to come out differet. If I had sex on the 21st of January how long after would I ovulate and how do I know I am ovulating?? Please help
I don't think I've had any real pregnancy systems yet I'm just going to wait to see if my period comes on the 21st again as it normally does....

Ovulation isn't based on when you had sex. Generally speaking you ovulate around 2 weeks before the first day of your period (so maybe 10 days after last day of period).

You should track BBT and CM to give you an idea of when ovulation occurs in your cycle as it would be different if you had a shorter or longer cycle.
