Daft CM question

Does anyone know where cm is produced, does the cervix produce it? Sorry for the daft question!!

Yes produced by glands which line the cervical canal..

...and some websites suggest you actually pinch the tip of your cervix in order to check what kind of cm you've got...

Thanks ladies, I was wondering because mine is blood stained and I really don't think it's from my period, I guess it means my cervix hasn't healed yet.
