antibiotics while ttc

Hi all

Have decided to finally go for it big time. Think am on day 9 - have rather irregular periods. Am currently taking amoxycillin for an ear infection. Would it be terrible to conceive while taking this - have another 2 days to go of the course of drugs.

I'm sure it't not a problem, pooka. People take amoxycillin all the time while pregnant (including me--for an infection I had in the first trimester of my 2nd pregnancy). And I remember reading that you can drink yourself stupid, take pills, do anything really for that short period between conception and 2 weeks (or 3?) later when things actually start happening with the embryo. I'm not being v. scientific, but, yes, it's OK to tak amoxycillin while TTC.

No drug is ever considered entirely safe in pg, but amoxycillin is not on the list of drugs to be avoided or used with caution during pg in the BNF (British National Formulary - book used by Drs in the UK for information on drugs). Dh is a Dr, checked with him for you.
