Getting rid of TWW POAS obsession

Hi ladies!!!
I’m a Mum of 8yo boy and currently on TTC#2, and just wanted to share you my POAS obsession during my TTC#1. Also, a few tips to deal with the horrendous TWW!

Disclaimer: Every women’s body is unique and different - what works for me may or may not work for you. Please read my health profile below to see if these tips may work for you, too!

PROFILE:
Cycle: Regular (25-27 days)
Average Period Length: 6-7 days
Positive OPK: 24 hours
Luteal Phase: 11-12 days

TTC#1:
I had no idea when the exact time (+/- 1-2 days) I O’ed as I hadn’t done any O test. I assumed my O as predicted by the cycle tracking app I use (Flo), and counted my DPO based on that; I was uneducated, I know. and there was the obsession begun which ended up in chemical. (When I said obsession, I did POAS 2-3 times a day; which was very ridiculous, but I couldn’t help not to!

TTC#2:
I know a little bit more about our body now. On TTC#1 I thought what matters is only to do the O test, and the TWW begin. Well, that’s true too, but there’s more to it.
This cycle I:

  • Track my O
  • Know my Luteal Phase

and guess what?! It’s not a TWW. The shorter our Luteal Phase, the shorter the wait also. Knowing our Luteal Phase gives us a better understanding when to start doing the hCG POAS.

I’ve read (too) many articles about:
• How long can sperm survive (up to 5 days)
• How long is the Implantation process (6-12 days)
• Average hCG at different DPOs

Combining all of the information in those articles and our own body would help the (possible) pregnancy. Yes, I still say ‘possible’ as we really don’t know EXACTLY what’s going on inside our own body.

Based on those data (from the article and my body), the earliest I can do the hCG test is 7DPO.
I used OPK from CD 7 to CD 22, O’ed at CD 16. Started hCG test at CD 23. Predicted AF at CD 27.

Conclusion for POAS addicts, better to POAS on an OPK than hCG. Other than it’s a LOT cheaper, it makes us know our body and cycle better for our next cycle reference.

and remember! If it does not happen this cycle, keep the hope alive! At least we get to know ourselves better!

Sending all the love and baby dust to all of you!
xx

7DPO is too soon. The development of an embryo follows exactly the same timeline, no matter what length your leutal phase is. I learnt this when going through IVF and tested every day. My O day was when my eggs were taken.

1-4dpo ..embryo is growing and developing
5dpo... Embryo is now a blastocyst
6dpo....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
7dpo.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
8dpo.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
9dpo.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
10dpo.. Morula is completely inmplanted in the lining and has placenta cells &
fetal cells
11dpo...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
12dpo...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
13dpo...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
14dpo...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on HPT

11dpo is the first day your body produces HCG at all, so there is no point in testing before this date!! I got my one and only BFP on day 11. DS is now 8. Good luck OP. Thanks

@AQuickNameChange1
Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy!!
Thank you for sharing your journey, too!!!
My post didn’t mean to give any suggestion to anyone to start POAS on hCG stick from 7DPO as that’s what works for me.
I’m sure different individual is different in everything; I personally know people who got their BFP on 5DPO, while some didn’t even get any FL on their 10-11DPO and ended up PG.
This cycle I’m waay more calm than my TTC#1 (3 cycles ago), so if it happens it happens..
FX’ed for all of us who are TTC :)!!!!
