Trying for 10 months should I be worried

Myself & my husband have been TTC since last March now. My periods are very regular, I get it every 28 days bleed for 5, my cervix is low down (I don’t know if this would be an issue) and I can feel myself ovulate I get pains in one side & I have had ultra-sound to confirm this. As a couple we seem very healthy & everything seems to be working as it should be. I’ve been contemplating bypassing the GP and going straight to a fertility clinic for us both to have our fertility tested. Is 10 months not enough time, am I rushing into it, will it be a waste of money or time. Or should I go for it?

We tried for 6 months fell pregnant had a MC tried for 2/3 more months after that and fell pregnant so it can just take time.

Maybe try acupuncture or something similar?

Maybe I’ll give that a try & see if it helps with anything. I’m currently using the clear blue digital ovulation testing kit I’ll keep going with that & try acupuncture. Thank you xx

@Mille2102 can I be rude and ask your age? If you’re in your mid-late 30’s or above then my advice would be to get the ball rolling now just so you don’t then end up wishing you’d done it sooner. If you’re in the younger category then I’d say it just depends whether you’re really stressed about it or happy to just keep trying for now, but maybe still worth getting checked out after a year, even if just for your own peace of mind, and GP can do the initial blood and ovulation tests for you. I guess it just takes longer for some than for others! In 40 now and only started trying last year so I’ve been to GP for the initial tests because the biological clock is ticking quite loudly for me!

I’m 26, I didn’t feel stressed but as it’s approaching a year if trying now I feel a bit worried, as I am young and we’re both healthy etc. It is only two more months of trying & waiting, I just felt like I needed an outsiders point of view & people who are in the same situation as me. I have everything crossed for you! & thank you! X

If you're 36+ go to the GP now. If you're under that age the GP won't do anything until you've been trying for 12 months. TTC is stressful and the stress can be counterproductive. We got our BFP while waiting for the results of semen testing on our 8th cycle. Good luck

You're a young un! Statistically time is on your side but could you make a GP appointment for a couple of months time so it's there if you need it (hopefully you won't) and you feel like your doing something?

Are you tracking your ovulation with kits at home and / or tracking your temperature?

How often are you having sex?

Sometimes it can just be abit of bad luck OP. We tried for our first DC for two years. My doctor was finally going to send us for test when I got pregnant. With our second DC it only took 2 months!
I would maybe give it another couple of months. My doctor wouldn't refer me due to my age until we had been trying for two years. So you might need to go private if you want to have tests sooner.

We tried for 18 months before we got a positive test. No fertility issues with either of us, both healthy etc.

It’s rubbish that it takes so long but for some people it just does.

As PP have said with your age and it being less than 12 months trying GP won’t do much.

I had Appt after 12 months and they just gave me a folic acid prescription. I was already taking folic acid anyway.

I also stopped using the ovulation tracking stuff too as I was becoming obsessed and anxious about it all. Then as I relaxed a bit we conceived, so I think stress has an impact too.

Maybe buy some folic acid if you’re not taking them already and relax about it as much as you can for next 2 months.

Yes I’m tracking my ovulation I have been ever since we started trying. I’ve recently started using the Clear Blue digital ovulation kit. We have sex quite regularly around 2-3 times a week sometimes more.

After all of your advice I think I’ll wait for the two months have everything crossed and if it doesn’t happen, I’ll try the GP and if they’re not very helpful we’ll look into going private. I don’t think I could do another year of waiting. I take my hat off to you ladies that do wait!

I have taken folic acid in the past then stopped I’ll try it again and try and relax as much as possible, even more so during these two upcoming months.

Thank you all so much for your help and advice, it means so much to hear different views and opinions and makes me feel better about trying to conceive hearing all of your stories too and not feeling alone with it all Xx

We tried for 12 months using opks and nothing (I was really regular, he has a varocele but ok sperm apparently) then I got pregnant and it was ectopic. But the next month I did bbts as well and managed to get pregnant again and she's nearly 18m now!
By 10months ttc I had a couple of chats with a good gp and she had started the referral process to a fertility clinic just to get us checked over- might be worth doing the same as it's often a waiting list of a few months and you can always cancel appointments if you conceive in the meantime.

Currently cycle 4 of ttc no 2 and I've started from the start with opks and bbt as we have less chance than before with only 1 tube- I've found the bbt sometimes differs from when the opks say I ovulate so might be worth doing a couple of months just to check timings? Although if you are having sex regularly then it shouldn't matter too much. Keep trying... 12 months isn't unusual just bloody annoying!

It sounds like you have put pressure on yourself right from the start with the ovulation tests. I know it's hard not to stress but maybe for the next two months don't do the tests just try to be how you were before you were trying. I know a few friends who took over a year to get pregnant and I believe that it was mainly due to stress. Try to have a couple of months no tracking no pressure and if you still have no luck then visit your gp. Lots of luck to you x

I definitely am putting pressure on myself, it’s hard not to. I’ll definitely take all of your advice on board and try relax with it all, it is just rather frustrating. I definitely didn’t think it would take this long, but it’s a special thing we’re trying to do and it takes time! Xx

I'm giving the SMEP plan a go this month.

Whilst I truly don't think you've got anything to worry about. If you are temping, tracking OVulation with OPKs and tracking it all in an app you will have so much of a clearer picture. You can ensure you are ovulating (sometimes OPK detect an LH surge only) and also you can see if your luteal phase is long enough. Armed with all of that information should you end up at the drs it will help
