Any tips for regulating periods

Good morning lovelies,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend anything for irregular periods, I want to try alternatives before getting medication from the doctor. I had my coil removed in August last year and have only had a few periods since, which makes trying to conceive nearly impossible!

I started taking trying for a baby by seven seas on 1st Jan, I ovulated on 14/15 and have just started my period today... Well I've started spotting so hoping it's on it's way! I think this has to just be a coincidence though I don't believe it's regulated me that well in one month!!

Anything else I can do/take? Recommendations would really really be appreciated xxx

hi annie
i just got my period today too :( i think we ovulated around the same time.
i've found evening primrose oil really good for regulating my cycles, that and acupuncture. With EPO you can only take it from day 1 until you ovulate if you are TTC.
what's your cycle like now?

@inahaze thanks so much for your reply, I have absolutely no idea how long my cycles are they are so messed up, I had merina coil removed bet August, then fell pregnant in sept, miscarried end of October, and this is my first period and ovulation since!

I might try evening primrose from today until a positive opk then? Is that what you do? I am booked in for acupuncture next week actually, it's just so expensive to do weekly!

Did you have irregular cycles before? X

are you using a tracking app for your periods? i had the mirena too but didn't ever get on with it, only lasted 6 months i think. so sorry to hear about your miscarriage :(

i normally take EPO every day for PMT, but have stopped now we are TTC. i have very short cycles of around 26 days, i've had acupuncture for this before and managed to get them up to about every 28 days (longer luteal phase better for conception). it's expensive but worth it i think. i also have acupuncture for labour and went into natural labour at 38+6 and had a really efficient labour with no complications.

@inahaze I had it for three years with no periods so I think that plus the miscarriage has messed me up... I might start taking it then and then stop when ovulation is detected.

Yeah I'm using Flo, going to try yak digital clear blue this month, I will try evening primrose and see how it goes, I can't face another 90 day cycle!!!

How long have you been ttc? X

@anxiousannie86 only 1 month, i dont know anyone IRL trying for a baby so feeling isolated

good luck with the cycles :)

@inahaze believe me that isn't a bad thing, I've been trying since August last year and when everyone around you seems to be getting pregnant it's heartbreaking! Good luck to you! Hopefully this will be both our months xxx

Reducing your sugar intake will be more effective than acupuncture.

There are several studies showing how sugar effects your endocrine system and therefore your reproductive system. Reducing sugar does regulate your cycle and boost fertility.

The studies on acupuncture show that it is only effective via the placebo effect, which only works on psychological issues, not biological ones.
