How long did it take you?

Hi im on cycle 6 TTC #1. How long did it take you to conceive your first and any tips on staying relaxed and stress free xx

I've been off the pill since October 2018, but only started properly TTC in January and it happened first go. I try to stay relaxed by going for walks and getting out in the air - I find that really helps. Or meeting with close friends to talk about my worries etc

I tried to conceive and it happened first go. Just relax and enjoy the ‘trying’ part 😂it will happen just let nature take its course. One random thing I did when I was trying to conceive was lying on the bed with my legs resting up against the wall to let the ‘swimmers’ get to the right please lol 😂 good luck

Was on the pill for approximately 15 years, give it a take a few breaks to try other contraception. Stopped taking it in October 2018 and got pregnant 8 months later, due to give birth in the next 2 weeks now. Started to get upset after about 3 or 4 periods as everyone around me kept getting pregnant on the first month of trying, but I think they are the people who happily tell you their story. The ones like me where it takes a few extra months need to speak up more!

Took me 3 months the first time, but that sadly ended in miscarriage. 2 months after that I got pregnant with the baby that's asleep upstairs. Just trying for number 2, on cycle 2 and already feeling stressed!!

12 months 😊 it happened the month I relaxed and pretty much forgot about it as I'd got myself so worked up thinking it would never happen. Currently 19+2 with first baby.

Been trying since December 2018 and still going. Just starting sub-fertility tests :(

Thankyou for all the replys, its so reassuring that my time will come and that i have hope. Were all led to believe that having sex once can get you pregnant and it would be so nice if for those who it took longer to happen for were heard. Making babies is far more difficult than i assumed and when my time comes i certainly will be telling my story xx

Hoping not to derail the thread, but can I ask how old you all are/were?

I'll be upfront straight away, I am male. My DW was on the implant for a long time and came off about 14mnths ago. We got a lot quicker than expected but sadly miscarried and then nothing since. We're both mid 30s and I'm just concerned it may not happen now.

With my duets DD it took 10 cycles, with DS who I’m currently pregnant with it took 2. Had been on the pill before and between the two pregnancies, mid and late 20s

@BrimFullOfAsher I'm 28, DH 34. I had been on the pill continuously from age 15-27.

I was 30 when TTC and just turned 31. 8 cycles. In hindsight, the first 3 my body was clearly confused where the pill had gone and periods were all over the place, so I'd discount those. So maybe then 5 of normal, 30 day cycles when we caught.

Totally agree with the idea that we're bought up to think it's easy, and I guess it is for some people, but the majority will take longer. We must share the stories!

At 41 and 43 conceived within four months of trying. I have always been very regular. We didn't go mad with the sex or track my cycle but as I was so regular just made sure we had some sex around the time I estimated I was ovulating. But I was fairly laid back about it, maybe a bit more anxious second time around as i was that little bit older.

Im 31 in may and was on the pill for years then came off for a number of years and then went back on sept 2017. I stopped again on 1st aug 2019 as now feel ready to have a baby. As none of my friends have children i have nobody to ask about all this and we are not telling anybody as dont want constant questions. My DP has a DD age 13 so i feel if anything were to be wrong it would be because of me. My periods can be anywhere from 28-37 days so im using opks to detect ovulation, im hopeful it will happen within the year but i guess anything is possible

We were both 26 😊 by the way OPKs never worked for me! I never got a positive on one, I knew when I was ovulating through CM and pains I would get in either side so we just made sure we tried every other day for that week.

Since aug iv been able to detect once my ovulation on opk and that was last cycle so. I dont really get any changes with CM apart from perhaps an increase but nothing that would indicate to me i was ovulating, i assume from the pains i experience that iv ovulated, we tru to Dtd every 2nd day or every 3rd depending on how we feel, what more can we do i guess other than what we are

DD 1 took about a year, but me and partner lived apart so would obsessive whenever saw each other, the month I forgot about it ... happened !!
Came of injection December 2018... period taken a while to regulate, not “trying” as very hard both full time and 2 year old 😴 but seeing what happens in the future whether it takes 1 or 3 years it will 💕

@Clarachristine1 aw thankyou 🥰 i think sometimes all we need to hear is just 1 story of it taking somebody else a little longer to give you hope and not give up. I havent been checking my app to see when im on my fertile week, this month im just going to enjoy time with my other half and hopefully il get a sticky bean xx

@Michelle2517 I think you are doing all you can 😊 I know it's so hard when people say just relax as it's hard to relax when you want something sooo much!! The month I got pregnant we had been referred for fertility tests so I was in the mindset of thinking it wasn't going to happen naturally so that completely took the pressure off us that month. Keep going, your time will come one way or another 😊

@chocolate26 We can all only do so much its taken me 6 cycles to realise that it doesnt happen first time for everybody and thats just life. It really infuriates me when somebody says "just relax" because you have every right to be stressed and everybody is entitled to feel what they want to feel, i know stressing is the worst thing when TTC but i am a naturally stressy person this isnt going to be any different for me lol xx

I feel like if there is an issue, it would be me. At risking TMI I don't seem to produce as much and have a lot less force behind it since having to have an op a few years ago

Took 6 cycles. Just remember you're still in the realm of normal length for healthy couples. The month it worked for me I used opks, a lot of preseed and kept hips raised after dtd. For me opks made me less stressed, if they stressed me out I wouldn't have used them.

Im a very impatient person lol not proud of it but when i want something i expect it to happen last week, TTC has actually taught me that something worth having is worth the wait and hopefully i will get a BFP at somepoint in 2020

@Michelle2517 it does come as a shock when it takes longer than you expected! For me it seemed everyone around me got pregnant within 3 months. I am naturally a very anxious person so I worried so much, I actually became depressed whilst TTC and ended up needing CBT to help me cope. Me and my DH are both completely fertile and healthy and it just took us 12 cycles! Like others have said you are still way in the normal range for healthy couples 😊

Took 11 months for me (with an ectopic in the middle). In November I used the SMEP and pre-seed gel and caught 🙂. Who knows if these are what did it or if it was just my time but it certainly can't hurt!! Good luck x
