How do you stay optimistic whilst TTC?

AF arrived today and it's hit me like a ton of bricks! I didn't expect to get pregnant quickly ( only 2 months in) and obviously can't predict how long it will take. I just wondered how you keep yourself chipper and optimistic when you're gutted about the results?

I was exactly like you. Although the rational part of your brain knows it's unlikely to happen straight away, the irrational part can't get past the fact that for some, it does. The only thing I can say is for me, that feeling only lasted a day or 2 and then once I got my head around the fact that it didn't happen that month, I felt a little better and optimistic for the next month.

I don't. 21 cycles and counting. I'm honestly going through the motions and it gets slightly more devastating each month even though I know its almost inevitable.

Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear, I'm just so fed up.

^ this basically. I don't even know how many cycles in l am. Into the 20's but l am bored of counting now.

It took me 4 years and no it didn't get any easier. I used to walk to work past a lot of social housing where there would be babies parked outside the front door in a pram, other kids running around , and I'd be so tempted to take the pram and just steal the baby. I got pretty mad there for a while, I'd think " she's got so many kids, she'd never miss one" . So yeah, it was a long hard road. But I ended up naturally conceiving my DD and she is so precious to me after that long wait.

Good luck OP.

I would try something "new" each month. So I would be pretty gutted the day af arrived. But cd 2 I was making a plan of action for the next month. However I concieved after 6 cycles so I know this would not have worked long term as I would have ran out of new things!

@Whyhaveidonethis, @EL8888 and @stellabelle sorry that you've all had/are having a difficult time. Life can be so cruel. Keeping everything crossed for you.

@MsChatterbox that's a good idea. What sort of things did you add to your list? Did you ever try the prenatal vitamins for him and her? Not sure if they're a giant rip off!

I started taking folic acid and vit d straight away. Different things I tried were opks, preseed (I used this liberally the month I caught), keeping hips and legs in air after dtd, dtd every day during fertile window then dtd every other day during, a month off everything. That kind of thing 😊
