One step pregnancy test

Hello all,

Just coming on looking for advice really. I finish my final cycle of clomid last month and my period came 3 days early and lasted 2 1/2 days. I've been tracking O this month Unmedicated to see if I Ov on my own. We have to wait until March for IUI treatment. I had a MMC in August last year.

Anyway I did an opk the last few days and they've all been pretty much positive and I felt so emotional today at work I burst out crying. So something in me told me to take a hpt when I got home at 4.30pm today. And this was the result! Is this a positive? Anyone have false positives on these? I'm only cd20 if my last period was correct so I'm not so convinced it's accurate?

I did an Asda cheapy one an hour after this and bfn :/ I also brought a digi which I was planning on using tomorrow morning possibly. Is it even worth doing a digi?

Thanks for any advice/help!

Yes it's a positive! The cheapy OPKs pick up HCG also so would be normal for them to all be positive :)

Naylor19 · 20/01/2020 20:00

@lucymagoo I hope so! When do you think I'd get a positive on a digital clear blue? As the asda cheapy one I did an hour later was negative not even a hint of a line! Which was gutting... I don't think I'll believe it until I see the words in black and white!

I'm not sure, have you tried a first response? The digitals are quite slow I've heard so wouldn't rely on those if it's early days. Try again tomorrow with FMU, good luck!

littletandme · 20/01/2020 21:25

It's normal for the second test to be "negative" only an hour after the first because the hcg won't have had time to build up. Try to always use first morning urine, I'm sure the digi will be positive considering that line on the cheapie Smile

Naylor19 · 20/01/2020 21:50

@lucymagoo it's hard because I'm not sure when I must of ovulated since I'm so early in my cycle! I didn't get any positive opk prior to the last few days before this positive hpt! Which is odd. I'll definitely try again with FMU, I've only got 2 digis in the house now so I'll try not to be too disappointed if that comes back negative!

@littletandme that's what I was hoping someone would confirm,Thankyou! Now I'm panicking over whether this was a dye run?! As the test still hasn't completely gone white around the two lines Confused how frustrating ttc is!

Just an update incase anyone searches the same using one step, did a clear blue digi with weeks indicator this morning fmu and it came back not pregnant. Going to retest tomorrow morning. Heartbreaking seeing those words!

Sorry to hear that @Naylor19. I bloody hate those digital tests, they're so brutal! I much prefer obsessing over potential faint lines! Definitely recommend a morning wee on a First Response. Keeping everything crossed for you, it would be amazing to get your BFP on your last clomid cycle xx

Naylor19 · 21/01/2020 21:28

@Trying2b thanks lovely, that's what I was thinking! Ttc is so painful especially after a MMC. I feel like it's taking over my life!

I brought some coop own brand tests so I'm going to try that and the other digi tomorrow. I wish I knew when I potentially ovulated! My cycles are all over the place :(

OP posts:
Trying2b · 21/01/2020 22:00

Yes it does take over your life, no doubt about it! Fingers crossed for the tests tomorrow, keep us update xxx

Kendrick12 · 21/01/2020 22:42

That defo Italy looks positive to me! :-) xx

Kendrick12 · 21/01/2020 22:42

Definitely**

Naylor19 · 22/01/2020 06:33

@Trying2b did another cbd this morning "not pregnant" guess it must of been a dodgy test the other day, so disappointing! Guess at least I know now.. xx

@Kendrick12 I thought so too, but bfn again today so assuming a dodgy test :/ x

@Naylor19 I'm so sorry Flowers it really is heartbreaking isn't it. I hate this rollercoaster.

Naylor19 · 22/01/2020 06:53

@Canadianpancake thanks lovely, I know it's awful. I think because we've been trying for so long and I got pregnant on the second month of clomid but mmc at 12 weeks I almost feel like it's never going to happen again.. I guess I'll just have to wait for our IUI treatment in March and keep trying to remain positive in the meantime. Such a long tiring journey x

Just updating once again, still been feeling odd. Stomach cramps, enlarged areola and fuller breasts. Also developed a sore throat yesterday (probably not related) so I tested again this morning after ordering more one step tests online and this was the result.. so confused! I'm still 7 days away from my period according to Flo.. I'm assuming the first BFP was a dye run hence the darkness? Or are these tests just rubbish and this is an evap?

Also I know how crazy I sound, and that no one can tell if I'm really pregnant or not. I guess it just passes the weeks until my IUI treatment obsessing over tests like a fool BlushHmm

@Naylor19 arggh what a mind f**k!! I'd say that's a positive but it's weird you got a bfn on the digi and Asda test. Were they both early ones or from the first day of missed period?? Those one step tests are meant to be early tests but I've always found the first response ones to be the best. Try one of those tomorrow morning if you can?? Fingers crossed xx

Naylor19 · 24/01/2020 13:00

@Trying2b I think the digi was a 5 days before period one and the other was from day of period.. I've got a docs appointment later today hoping they'll offer a blood test to see what's going on! If not I'll get a first response xx

I hope this works out for you. Unfortunately for me I got one positive pregnancy test on an internet cheaply and then on closer inspection, whilst the colour of it was correct (blue strip), it was actually a LH ovulation test that had found its way into the packaging at the factory. It's the closest I got to a positive. That being said I can see a faint line in your second one so fingers crossed for you!!!

Naylor19 · 24/01/2020 14:30

@Mycrazylife85 oh no that's devastating!! I don't think these companies realise how heartbreaking those kind of mistakes can be. I've done an ovulation one they've been positive last 5 days so not really sure what's going on!

sugarsnapwee · 24/01/2020 14:36

I feel optimistic for you - I got my BFP using a one-step at 9dpo. It looked exactly like your latest one and my husband didn't believe it but I knew it was positive as I'd taken so many previously that were negative and I'd never seen a hint of a line on them. Good luck x

Naylor19 · 24/01/2020 14:40

@sugarsnapwee thanks lovely I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Be so nice not to have to go through IUI then IVF! I'll keep it updated soon as I know one way or another xx

OP posts:
Trying2b · 25/01/2020 09:43

@Naylor19 any update?? I'm really hoping you've got a clearer BFP positive today x

Naylor19 · 25/01/2020 09:51

@Trying2b still very faint lines, the doctor said it would be too early to be testing still but just feels odd! Part of me feels like maybe I've had dud tests the other part is noticing symptoms galore! My period is due between Monday-Wednesday next week so may hold off see what happens. On the plus side I got my letter for IUI treatment to start on the 19th March and the doctor also suggested some counselling for me and hubby to help manage the stress of infertility xx

Trying2b · 25/01/2020 09:56

Good news about your letter, it's helpful to have a date to focus on and fingers crossed something happens in the mean time! Sending lots of baby dust your way, sounds like you deserve a break xxx
