Hi guys, I think my body is being rather cruel tbh but I'm gonna explain what's going on... Please let me know what you think is going on!

I had assumed/expected/accepted that I wasn't pregnant this month due to the numerous negative tests I've done. But now this!!

I had the implant removed December 6th.
Had what pretty sure was a withdrawal bleed rather than a proper period on 9th December.
Had no period since!
Had EWCM and positive ovulation test on 4th January.
Negative hpt after negative hpt so far.
Today I have pink/brown spotting-only when wiping, nothing in my pad, which I thought was the start of my period but it hasn't got any heavier at all throughout the day! In fact I think it's now getting less. I've also had quite a dull aching lower back (I might add this is never a pms symptom for me usually)

I have 2 questions...

  1. I know nobody can say for sure but have you had a similar experience or can anyone tell me if they think this is implantation bleeding or just a light period due to me having just had the implant removed.
  2. how soon would it be worth doing a hpt? The last thing I want to do is start getting obsessive doing a test every day again 😂😂

Thank you, any useful input would be super helpful here xxxx

Hi @Lauryloo1991

I have had a very slightly similar experience to you. TTC first baby. I came off of the combination pill in October and then had a withdrawal bleed within 5 days that lasted just under a week. I started using OPKs straight away and thought I had identified surges a couple of times over the two weeks that followed. I started testing HPTs from about CD 31 (I saw CD 31 but this is counting from the start of the withdrawal bleed so probably wasn't a proper cycle looking back), but all were negative. I then had nothing but negative tests until the last week in November when I had a couple of days of spotting (similar to you, was only when wiping) - so was optimistic this could be implantation bleeding rather than AF. I think really this was just my body getting back to normal after coming off the pill, had been on the pill for over 10 years. So I dont think I really identified any real ovulation with the OPKs. I sort of resided myself to the fact that I hadnt fell and tried to put TTC out of my mind until the next period.

I then had nothing until 9th January when I finally got my period... so I am counting this as my first cycle. The wait felt forever, was more or less 3 months from coming off the pill. I am avoiding the cheapy OPK strips this month, because I dont find them very consistent, I get darker and lighter lines almost daily and sometimes i think your mind plays tricks on you! I find its a bit more guess work with these kinds, but maybe that's just me :)

Its easy to say dont get obsessive, but its so hard not to keep testing.. I know exactly where your coming from. But if you have some cheapy HPT strips theres no harm, just for peace of mind. All I would say from my experience is if the HPTs are negative...dont get too stressed about it, wait until your proper period comes and start a fresh.

Good luck though :)
