Negative Pregnancy Tests

Hello to you all. I am ttc and already have DS 1 year old - would like to join this thread if that's ok, am new to this!
I had bleeding for 2 days around time period was due and since I have had really heavy and sore breasts, I am convinced I'm pregnant but all 5 tests were negative. Has this happened to anyone else? My DH thinks I'm mad as I'm still convinced. Help!?!

How late are you? It is not impossible to PG and have what seems like a light period -that happened to me - could be implantation bleed or threatened m/c, and equally you might not get a positive HPT until you are a couple of weeks late. if you do get a positive HPT, it is probably best to go to the GPs and mention the bleeding so they can check you out.

GeorgesMummy · 30/09/2004 18:02

I'm only 5 days late but just assumed that as the tests say from the day your period's due that they would be accurate. Maybe I do need to test in a couple of weeks. The waiting is so hard though.

Hi well i am 2-3 days late and today (3rd late) i had just seconds ago spotting (no blood) but feel aching pain as if i am coming on???ttc for about 1yr......4months properly,

teabelly · 30/09/2004 21:26

Georgesmummy, I had exactly the same last month - a couple of days of spotting / light bleeding around time af due (cd29) then nothing but 5 BFN's (abit over zealous according to my dh!) until cd36 when af came good and proper. I'd wait a day or so then test again, if still no af then make an appointment with the Dr to do a blood test...nothing like an appointment to make af come if she's just waiting .

LOPPY1234 · 05/10/2004 09:50

My last period was 9 Aug and haven't had one since I was due on yesterday but still no per, I have taken about six pregnany tests and all come back negative which is really upsetting as me and my partner really want to conceive, I came off of Dianette at the begining of Aug so am assuming my body is all over the place which makes it really hard to know when I am ovulating has anyone else experienced this? Sorry I am just worried it could take ages for me to get pregnant.

I had this last month. I had a small bleed and then nothing. Took a few tests and one even had a really faint line, but unfortunately I wasn't pregnant. Just had a really late period. I was convinced I was pregnant and spent an absolute fortune on tests. I have heard of lots of people who this has happened to who have been pg though so good luck to you and I will be keeping my fingers crossed. Just started ttc (dd 16 months) and finding it very stressful already!

kelly0612 · 09/11/2004 19:28

Loppy i have the same problem i have been trying since july and i cane off the mini pill mocronor i too have not had a proper period and spent a fortune on tests they all back negative (sad) and its really getting to me now, but im having fun trying

malinki · 10/11/2004 08:06

The same is happening to me now, I started a thread called very very sore boobs and af is 8 days away, well i'm on CD 32 (af usually arrives around cd 34-35), and i'm spotting brown water type blood, not even proper blood, usually by day 2 its red and i'm flooding, so what should I do, test or not test!!!

oooggs · 10/11/2004 08:16

I am now 4 days late and have taken 2 pregnancy tests - 1 at 11am yesterday and 1 at 5am this morning - both negative. I am never late. Why?? Ehat is happening?? I am now worried it is something more sinister

MeerkatsUnite · 10/11/2004 12:55

Hi Oooggs,

If your periods are generally regular in nature, this may just be a one off anovulatory cycle. An occasional cycle without ovulation is normal. It is quite possible to have periods without ovulating every time AF shows.

I would not do any more pg tests as seeing repeated negatives can become very difficult.
I would just keep an eye on future cycles and if you notice changes (e.g they lengthen, become more painful etc) then mention it to your doctor. A blood test can be done to check your hormone levels.

oooggs · 10/11/2004 15:46

Thanks - yes negative results aren't very nice - periods are normally painful as have endo . Very unsual for me not to be regular. Well back to RL.

MeerkatsUnite · 10/11/2004 18:03

Hi Oooggs,

You have my sympathy re endo; I know what that's like as well. It took me many years (at least a decade) to get a diagnosis of this from a consultant gynae who knew what he was on about.

Is your endometriosis currently being treated or have you received any previous treatment for same?.

With best wishes

oooggs · 10/11/2004 18:07

AF has just raised her ugly head. Never been late - very deflated. Endo was zapped twice about 3 years ago. But can still be painful. I have had it since I was 16 but Doctor just put me on the pill. It wasn't until I came off it at 25 and I was really ill and eventually found it hard to concieve that it was diagnoised. I then had it zapped.

IrishLass · 14/11/2004 10:48

Loppy & Kelly,

I came off Marvelon beg of Sept & apart from usual withdrawal bleed haven't managed to have a AF by myself yet either. I'm on cycle day 68 & counting. I posted a message on the ttc thread a while ago & someone on there said that she had 3 haywire cycles b4 they went back to normal & she conceived on her 2nd normal cycle. So I guess we're still a bit all over the place after the pill.

I hope this helps a bit?

MeerkatsUnite · 14/11/2004 19:42

Hi Irishlass,

If you AFs were irregular pre taking the pill it may be the same now that you have come off it.

Sometimes such problems are caused by hormonal imbalances. I would keep a close eye on your cycles and if they continue to be just as long in the next three months I would ask for a blood test to be done. Your hormone levels should be checked closely as such imbalances do affect ovulation and can prevent it from happening. It can be treated but you may need to see a gynae.

HTH

IrishLass · 14/11/2004 22:48

Hi Meerkats, thanks for your thoughts, I really appreciate it

I am concerned myself because just as you pointed out, my cycles were irregular b4 the pill (although nowhere near as bad as this one!). So, I went to see my gynae this week & he's having my hormone levels checked & sending me for a pelvic ultrasound.

I guess I'll know more in a couple of weeks. Fingers crossed whatever it is can be easily fixed!

Nice talking to ya.

cockenzie · 30/11/2004 10:11

Hi there
I am new too. have my 9.5 months old still breastfeeding
We are trying to conceive no 2 but.....oh dear i dont know , its taking time.. just me being impatient as usual
How do you know when you are about to ovulate when your cycles are irregular? any telltale signs?

I used to be dead on 28 days. i started 5 months ago on a 34 days, and 31 days, 32 days, now 30 days. so , guess its slowly regulating. how do you work out an ovulating time/date?

Please help
