Does anyone find a discrepancy between BBT & OPKs? My OPKs & CM make me pretty convinced I ovulated yesterday (CD17) but according to Femometer my BBT shows that I ovulated on CD13 (I did have a small LH surge on my OPKs that day but not a peak).

Luckily I've covered both bases with BD but when you're trying to track your cycle to get more clues it's just making things more confused.

Thanks

Hi 🙋‍♀️ I've written a similar comment on another thread today 😊 My OPKs and BBT only loosely match up. I've attached my chart this month as an example - I got positive OPKs on CD8, 14 and 15, and natural cycles predicted I ovulated on 16. I've done a bit of reading around this and the general consensus is that if you're measuring accurately, BBT is more reliable at telling you when you ovulated in the past (although OPKs are good for predicting it in the future, if that makes sense).

Are you sure you're measuring accurately (same time every day, before you've moved or done anything else, after at least 4 hours of continuous sleep)? Also are you discounting any temps after you've had any alcohol the night before (even 1-2 drinks can make it unreliable), when you're ill, or when you've stayed up late and had less sleep than usual?

Thanks,

I've had a few nights where my little boy has woken me in the night so I've marked those as abnormal but otherwise I generally wake between 6.15 & 6.45, temp check immediately so even if I don't get up straight away it's logged.

This is my first month doing BBT in about a year (we've been trying for 3 years) so getting back into it as I start with a reflexologist next cycle & she wanted to see my chart in order to tailor my treatment.

This is my chart so far for this cycle

That chart doesn't look quite right to me. There are a lot of big ups and downs 😕 I don't think the temps are accurate - can't say for sure obviously, it just doesn't look how mine usually look which is quite stable. As far as I'm aware you need 3 high temps in a row (above cover line) to know that you've ovulated, and you haven't had that yet, so I don't think it's clear when or whether you've ovulated this month yet. Sorry to be so vague! I guess you've covered your bases with DTD so just keep on DTD every couple of days and then you won't have missed it!

Femometer announced very confidentially this morning that I had ovulated 5 days ago (I can only assume it thinks that the dip on the 16th is an anomaly).

This is why I gave up temp tracking as the apps changed their mind daily it was impossible to rely on them - I find this so frustrating Confused

I've found Natural Cycles very reliable and easy to understand if that's any help!

I've input my data into Natural Cycles for comparison

I'm not surprised at all that it doesn't think you've ovulated yet, didn't look quite right to me either!

Both apps this morning have recalculated my ovulation to day 19 which means we probably didn't DTD on the right days but at least they're both agreeing now!
