'BFP' but don't trust it

Took this Tesco Freedom test maybe ten minutes ago and it looks pretty positive. But I think I maybe flooded it as it's not really clearing, plus I only had sex 8 days ago so it's too early really for such a clear positive. I know, I shouldn't be testing this early especially with crappy tests, but why break the habit of a lifetime (because of this scenario occurring is the answer!)

Not sure what to think now and the shops here don't open until 1 so I can't test again until this afternoon. Anyone want to keep me company til then? Ho hum.

Hi @fligglepige! It is a pretty clear line but I'd agree seems a bit early? When did you ovulate? hCG won't be produced until after implantation which would normally be 6-12 days after ovulation. I've not used this brand before but it does look very wet. I usually prefer to pee into a pot then dip stick in as I'm not great with the aim 🤣I'm 12DPO today and currently talking myself out of testing with FMU as I've had zero symptoms!
Good luck keep us posted!

Hey @newmum2020! Yeah Glow says I'm 8 dpo but haven't been tracking so could be a bit out. Either this is the earliest bfp earlier or the most convincing evap ever!

Looks like a clear line to me. I would definitely retest.
Each person produces hcg differently, so you might produce more than others.

Well I've taken another test and it's as negative as you get. So it must have been a false positive Confused

I think I can see a very faint line in your latest test, OP?

KerryTTC · 19/01/2020 16:54

Hi!

Just thought I'd share that I had been using alot of those particular tests from tesco. Mainly because they are cheap and they can satisfy my urge to pee on a stick 😂.
Over the two months I've had what I guess are either false positives or chemical pregnancies detected using them, but I suspect false positives. I have just found out I'm pregnant confirmed with a frer and clearblue, have also checked with those strips again and they dont show up massively dark even though the others have convincing lines!

But I did a couple of them before I got the clear blue and frers and they were showing a faint positive.... just thought they were giving me false ones again!

My advice would be to not test until the day before/day of your missed period. I'm a fine one to talk as was peeing on them constantly but didnt get anything until my period loomed. Or just keep buying those cheapies if only to satisfy that need!

Good luck x

Thank you for the kind comments! this is this mornings test so it was a v convincing false positive. Annoying!

My freedom tests the other day both had lines on and I've done a frer today with fmu and it's negative

MrsMGE · 20/01/2020 22:37

I had the same thing last month. These tests flood so easily and are bad for false positives. Luckily, I read about these issues before I tested so didn't get my hopes up! Best of luck, OP ❤️

isitaline97 · 21/01/2020 12:33

@fligglepige so sorry to hear that OP :( I too have done an freedom cheapie this morn with a line that I wouldn't even say was particularly faint but really thin?! Can't believe the darkness of that original picture tho! How have you been getting on?

fligglepige · 24/01/2020 07:06

Sorry to hear others have had this too! They should be taken off the market really. I had a couple of promising looking Lloyd's own early tests a couple of days ago but today is CD28 and BFN this morning so just a matter of time til AF shows unfortunately!
