What do OPKs look like post surge

I'm having a very odd cycle this month. I've been terribly ill with the flu so I thought I was skipping ovulation entirely... until I got a solid smiley face on clear blue on cycle day 25!

I can't keep testing with those digital ones so swapped into internet cheapies to track LH surge. But the colour isn't fading out. What should my OPK tests look like after my first positive reading?!

I'm just trying to suss if I am ovulating this month or not :(

Hopeful bump...

My clear blue solid smiley came three days ago. Then my internet cheapies showed positive since. So confused if I'm actually ovulating this month!

Should the internet cheapy dip tests stay positive post surge or drop back off?!

Being ill can make ovulation late. But did you definitely not ovulate earlier in your cycle? OPKs can pick up HCG as well as LH, worth taking a pregnancy test just in case?

I had barely any sex because of the flu and also the OPKs coincide with Cervical mucus so I am very confident I'm not pregnant. Sadly!

@charlesthekudu I was confident I wasn't last time I was trying as well as only did the deed a few times just after my period (like a day afterwards!). I have a nearly 2 year old from that so its very possible to ovulate very late or very early or not at all. If your trying for a baby you should definitely not just be having sex in your 'fertile' week. My other daughter was conceived around CD20 so you could definitely either be ovulating or pregnant.

You could also be neither but 🤞 for you. Keep us updated!

Good point @ChampooPapi we only had sex once because I was so ill with the flu so we had sec very early then I was laid up for most of the month! Next month it's every other day at least!

@charlesthekudu how are you getting on? Did af show up?

charlesthekudu · 20/01/2020 11:52

Hey :) thanks for checking in! If my cycle is typical (despite late ovulation) then AF is due Wednesday or Thursday.

If Ov was 'true' then I'm 6/7 DPO today.

AF may be delayed due to late ovulation (flu virus) or come on time. Or late because of pregnancy!

I will test from Wednesday I think... which is early but I can't help it!

Oh and to confirm I did do one pregnancy test because if I did ovulate during my flu virus and I miraculously'caught' the egg then I'd be about 15DPO by now - it was a BFN. So that at least confirmed I didn't ovulate earlier despite flu!

@charlesthekudu I don't blame you wanting to test Wednesday, Im only cd25 and first month I've been really itching to test. Usually I can always wait until I'm at least a day late before testing. Something in the air this January !

Everything crossed for you ✨👣

charlesthekudu · 20/01/2020 12:28

Thanks @ChampooPapi best of luck to you! I will lee you updated :)

According to my Ovia app I should be ovulating now but all my ovulation tests have come back negative. I've tried working out when I was ovulating back in August when I fell Pregnant but that's the one once in the calendar that hasn't tracked anything down so I'm not sure if then I ovulated a week later. I'm going to keep testing every day now until I either get my peek or come on again
