Self insemination - Any success stories?!

Hi everyone,

I have NC'd for this to save our blushes!
DH and I have just had our first round of IVF which was sadly unsuccessful after an early miscarriage.
We have 2 frozen embryos but we would like to TTC naturally for the next 6 month's first in the hope the IVF hormones might help boost our chances.
DH has always struggled to ejaculate inside me when DTD. Therefore we have decided to try self insemination in the hope it will take away some of the stress.

I would love to hear any success stories.

Also which insemination kit did you buy?

Has anyone tried a soft cup / Ferti Lily conception cup after inserting the syringe to help things along?

Thanks everyone!

@primrosechill we are dpo buddies!

I started doing oral temps this cycle - but I don't seem to have a big temp spike after ovulation like the reference graph seems to show. Googled it and then got worried that it might be a sign of low progesterone? I'll keep doing the temps and see if it goes up or not...
We did 2 SI this time, one the day before peak but the syringe failed a bit and not everything got up there :( and the second was 2 days after so I think maybe too late. Trying not to obsess too much during 2ww this time but it is super hard. I'll be 38 in Jan which is also on my mind!! Aargh Xx

@bigsweetpotato I’m 39 next month 😭😱 screw it!

I’m starting my period today. Not entirely shocked tbh and in a way feeling grateful my body kept a reasonably normal cycle despite two weeks bleeding. I’ve been so stressed that it’s actually a good thing this month, it’s not how I’d have like to start off a bean implanting.
I’m feeling today that I have my head back on for inseminating next month, I think (Bloody Hope) I’ll be in a better place.

Just seeing news re lockdown. My business will have to close again, I’m going to take this time to sort the house out. De clutter, charity bag clothes etc so it’s better for my old lady cats and hopefully babies in the future 💚 xx

@bigsweetpotato hello DPO buddy! Are you hoping to stick it out until AF shows up (hope she doesn’t!) or will you test? Despite my best efforts not to symptom spot, I have already convinced myself that my boobs are getting more tender by the minute hahah 😂

@Oilyoilyoilgob sorry your period showed up and on the day when the lockdown gets announced too, what a combo! Hah. But glad to see you see this as an opportunity to declutter :)

@eloiseislost good luck inseminating!

Big hugs to all xxx

Aww thanks @primrosechill I actually feel really good about it-my head wasn't right this month and with the cats and no sleep I felt unwell. Now lockdown and business closing I feel my period ‘fuck it’ mood suits the timing 😄

We’re going to mass tomorrow and dropping off food for Foodbank for all feasts day, we have a Sunday lunch booked and I’m going to get myself right and ready for the next round of syringing 💪🏻

Ooh I do hope you are getting tender boobs! And that you get that bfp. I’m honestly crossing my fingers for you all, sending positive thoughts and wishes 💚 xx

@Oilyoilyoilgob thank you for starting a new thread! Sorry to hear about AF but it’s good that you are in a slightly better head space! I’m DPO12 but got a negative test (I don’t normally test but I don’t feel pregnant so wanted to confirm it) so I’m just waiting for AF to start now and into cycle 16. Hope everyone else is well x

I have done it. And with confidence I can say it definitely works. Me and my husband both used to work 35 miles away from home. We used to leave at 6 in the morning and used to come back 8 in the afternoon. After a stressful day, it was almost impossible to try for a baby in my fartile days unless it was weekends. I googled it and came across a thread about syringe self insemination. I tried for 5 months and the month I conceived, I exclusively tried this only without being intimate with my husband. I conceived and my miracle is a healthy happy 3 years old girl now

Hi ladies

My husbands sperm count has come back and it’s not good news, high white cells and low morphology, so it’s looking like between my vaginismus and husbands swimmers, our yogurt pot and syringe won’t really do much. Considering the anxiety I feel when thinking about anything going upwards, maybe this isn’t a bad thing.

I’ve been doing weekly acupuncture and will get my husband on the band wagon from January when the clinic reopens. Is this too early for ivf/Icsi?

My GP was going to make the referral but needed a scanned version of my husbands sperm test as the email she was viewing it from wasn’t good enough...

so depending on how quickly the back room staff got it on their system, she thought by last week the referral would have been sent.

So it’s been about a week so maybe before the surgery closes next week I’ll send a chaser to just confirm the referral was made.
I know when I was referred over to other departments, my surgery sent a text confirming it was made so I’m super anxious.

I went from having a really positive outlook to actually being quite down.

I thought i was the issue and the referral was the last hurdle before I get my long desired moment to be called ‘Mum’.

I’m closing in on 40 and just feel demoralised.

Hi @ComebackQueen! I am sorry about your DH's results, I understand how unsettling it must be. I'm sure the referral will be out through, sometimes there's small delays but it will all be sorted out eventually! We have a new thread now, as this is nearing the 1000 post limit, so please come join us there:
@inmyshedsmoking2000
Sometimes it just doesn't work for some people and there can be a variety of reasons.
My husband has never been able ejaculate during intercourse. Tried all sorts of stuff and nothing works or makes a difference. 🤷
I can't tell you how reassuring it is to hear this. My hubby has never been able to ejaculate when we have sex. We have had psychosexual therapy and medications but nothing changes it. I thought we were just about the only people on earth this happened to lol

I really don’t mean to step on anyone’s toes.

I suspect this months gonna be a self imsemination month with his work shifts [icu nurse, working nights when I’m roughly due to ovulate & sex when he wakes up is a no go. He read something which said doing it into a mensural cup & popping it in can work. Has anyone got any experience?

TIA🥰

Hi @Bubblemonkey! I've been using soft discs which are flat menstrual discs as opposed to cups and they sit flat against the cervix.
